China ready's to fly fighter aircraft missions over US soil. Fleet expansion eminent .. New planes, Carriers..

As I discussed in my last post about China’s ongoing quest for aerospace parity with the west and naval power projection capability, the J-15 would be seen on-board the Liaoning much sooner than many thought. Some experts projections of the Chinese Navy to take over a year or more to actually operate the J-15 from the decks of their new (to them at least) aircraft carrier were laughable. Those with a public voice and or our own Defense Department (see Robert Gates and co.) must stop chronically underestimating China’s lust for military technological progress. Simply put, they are willing to risk comparatively more than the west in exchange for rapid evolution when it comes to their military aerospace projects. Seeing as their carrier aviation ambitions are a centerpiece of their future military strategy, this race for increased capabilities and technological know-how will be extremely evident as their carrier aviation program progresses.

China is already building its first indigenous aircraft carrier. I have not seen any hard evidence as to its final design and configuration but I would bet that it is larger and much more advanced than the second-hand Lioaning. China says this new class will be christened by 2016, and I do not doubt their claims. Although building a carrier, even the non-nuclear conventionally powered variety, is a very complex, intricate and expensive task. Yet somehow I think China is well up to the task seeing as they can erect a 30 story hotel in just 15 days:

To change the angle of attack upon takeoff. The british used this design on harrier's that fought in the fauklands wars. Shortens the runway space needed.

While you must respect the Chinese's first landing and take-off on a carrier., please realize true carrier OPs take decades to refine and perfect. It is nowhere as easy as it seems. They have years of catching up ahead. Ask the Russians. they still never perfected it even after the cold war.

The majority of the US naval fleet will soon be on the bottom of the Persian Gulf, South China Sea, and Indian Ocean - and those Chinese vessels will be more important than ever...

Why would the US fleet be sunk? How? Why would the Chinese fleet still be afloat?

I get tired of hearing about these anti ship missiles, too. None of them are as effective in the real world as they seem to be. Not when somebody else seeks to mitigate their effectiveness (destruction of launch platforms and remore guidance systems for starters).

The Chinese are a rising power militarily, but they aren't there yet. The entire Chinese navy couldn't defeat a single US carrier group in the open ocean.

The near term issue with China is that they do have dominance along their coast. The US has a problem with getting enough aircraft into a fight over Taiwan. Watch and see what the next US fighter will be. I guarantee it'll be a big twin engine long range fighter capable of carrier operations. The US has given up its long range strike and air superiority capability since it dumped the F111. By having a 2k+ mile capability w/o need of vulnerable tankers the US can use it's more distant bases and also keep it's carriers at a safer distance.

China knows amerikans won't do anything we have become the whore of Babylon or able on. We were sold out by politians and our children have been use as cannon folder to keep the an kicking down the road. The road has ended.

Yes, China is a rising military power. Anyone with two eyes can see that, but they aren't anywhere near able to compete with America on the sea and air yet. We have more then a decade of a technological lead. China hasn't even been able to build a single jet engine yet, they just buy them.
