Police want two year access to your text messages.
You get what you deserve. Read it and weep.

State and local law enforcement groups want wireless providers to store detailed information about your SMS messages for at least two years -- in case they're needed for future criminal investigations.

They need this.

They need it so everybody always feels intruded, having a dark shadow hanging over them. We dont know what we said a year ago, let alone 2 years ago.

Besides this, from my experience, many of my SMS are related to serious business matters. So who in their right mind would allow the police to have an insight in your personal life in this way??

Under the banner of "if you have nothing to hide, then..." it will be passed and from then on, slowly people are reduced to fearful consumers that can be manipulated at any time.

No matter you did something wrong or not, if they are out to get you, they will have all the ammunition to show you are guilty of something, somehow. Wonderful

Isn't this old news? Before long it will be minority report... Don't stress.

No ones doing anything about it, seems they don't give a shit. Here in Aus I think we're ahead with that law being passed soon if not already.
Anything in life worth doing is worth overdoing. Moderation's for cowards.
