Proud flesh or overgranulation.
I had a hematoma burst open recently from a surgical scar.

It bled to clear off the blood.

Then while healing, flesh protruded out from it.

It wouldn't heal for a week. Wound wouldn't close.

Then I keep scrubbing it with q-tip laced with betadine.

Very aggressively till it bleeds (no pain at all).

The flesh was scrubbed away and leveled down.. Now my scar is healing and seems to be closing.

Is this proud flesh or overgranulation? Anyone dealt with this on their wound before?

Flesh growing out of the open wound site.

"Proud flesh" is overgranulation.

Can you not consult with the surgical office that performed the procedure?

Surgical removal and debridement is generally the treatment for this. Not home DIY with betadine...

It is a small wound at the surgical site.

Betadine was needed to kill infection while I scrub off the granulated tissue,

Now it is no longer protruding and is granulating properly.

Then it sounds like you diagnosed it correctly and have it covered. Consider an anti-fungal preparation as well since betadine doesn't get everything.

Re: Proud flesh or overgranulation.
i google "proud flesh" and overgranulation and see on a horse forum (horses must get this too) that they use preparation h mixed with meat tenderizer, or things like epsom salts and hot water, and then you scrub the skin off so the wound heals from the inside out, best wishes, op
