This guy has 'prophecies' that coincidentally coincide with Christian whackjob beliefs.

I've read about real near death experiences and none of them talk about Christianity being the one and only religion, all man made religion is man made and there to restrict the human from becoming truly spiritual.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 28334654

Sad you feel this way without actually reading his book. At no time does he blast anyone for being other than Christian.

And, if you had actually read *enough* NDEs, you would notice that people see the paradigm in Heaven to which they are accustomed or will make them feel the most comfortable. If they have broader experiences or are more open-minded, then they will see more than typical Christian heaven.

Many NDEs are Christian in nature, but many more that I have read are Buddhist or native american, or new-agey, etc in their substance. The fact of the matter is that we all have a place to go to when we die, that there is only one source to the Universe, regardless of the name you give it, and just because the prophecies given to Dannion Brinkley happen to coincide with some of the things that the Books of Daniel and Revelation mention doesn't mean that they aren't *true*.

Re: So I read "Saved by the Light" last night, by Dannion Brinkley
Hi OP

Let me collect my thoughts about the more extensive NDE experience, but this much I can write quickly

when the heavily drugged addict broke into my apartment in NYC, he held me in a chokehold for about 15 mins as I resisted him...my family doctor later told me that police have accidentally killed suspects with less than 5 mins

I fell on the floor, but I don't remember that part

I do recall suddenly become hyper aware of everything around me in a 360 degree awareness, as if I weren't limited by the direction of my eyes...and everything around me was bright, as if reality were scrubbed and clean

but you see, this happens gradually, there is nothing sudden. I think that is because some part of us is always operating on this level of hyper alert awareness, but the fog of daily livng, the fog of intoxication in our bodies interferes with and dulls the senses we were born with

so I was fully aware, watching this guy ransacking my apartment, and I felt calm watching him and I also felt sadness watching him, a sense of sorrow that he felt he had no other options in his life but to do what he was doing to me

I recall that as I was watching him, observing at that point the scene changed and I began to be aware of this tremendous amount of light around me..but again, nothing dramatic

my apartment in NYC faced an air shaft and was usually a dark cave, but suddenly I felt like there was light around me which reminded me of that beautiful soft light early on summer day...a beach day

remember, when you were a kid, and your parents were going to drive you to the beach and you could barely wait, and before the sun got really hot there was this soft pre mornng light?

well it was that kind of light, but again it comes from all directions, not like sunlight or lamp light coming from a single source

now this attack happened at about 6 pm, and even though it was early summer the day had been getting darker, so I was pretty surprised by all this light slowly filling my apartment

and the moment I noticed the light I felt glad...not just glad...but blissful...impossible to describe it.

I have had a few kundalini experiences in my life, but this was different

it felt as if I were being cradled in my mother's arms. That was the exact thought which came into my mind...I suddenly realized how much stress, how much fear of the future I had been carrying around with me, because it was suddenly gone and I felt entirely limp and 100% supported and safe....sheer bliss

and the light is intelligent...it interacts with you, but not with words but with the seed from which words come, I think thats the best way I can put it, because you know exactly what it is communicating as if it goes directly to your mind where your "I" or you exist

it seemed to play out the experience as I adjusted to each phase

and at no time did I think I was dead....I was fully aware n the moment and excited by this experience...and I lost awareness of the man in my apartment

and at that point I was aware of my grandfather, someone I loved deeply. He had died when I was 21, and its as if no time had passed since we had spoken but there was this tremendous excitement and gladness at seeing there, relief that not speaking to him all this time had been some kind of mistake

...and that's where the rest of the story goes, but as I said, I have to collect my thoughts a bit.

it helps I was thinking about this the other day because I was awake all night with strange dreams and this weird heat I keep feeling which feels like I'm burning up from the inside

I can say that since that time I've been aware of this time we are living through right now...and that there is a risk of a terrible existence coming towards us by the year 2020..always this year 2020, but there is something else at work as well which has entered the equation

sorry for the long post, OP. as said, I may regret this and maybe I'll delete it later on...

Great thread OP, but let me review here - 2020, not 2012? I've researched NDEs and haven't found anything specific relating to 2012, but a lot of folks like DB and Cayce said the year 2000, which might mean we're getting close. And all of those prophecies from hundreds of different sources... Who and what to believe? Life's a mystery. Will there at least be some kind of shift before 2012 ends, I wonder. Sorry, rant over.
Best Wishes,
Uncle Alyosha

Well, it appears as though he missed 9/11.
So, obviously he missed the biggest event since WW2.
And his time frames on all these events are way off.

 Quoting: tandym

the interesting thing to read is Mellen-Thomas's NDE because the guy was an atheist before dying of terminal cancer

me, I was raised by a father who followed Tibetan Buddhism. He would read me chapters from the Tibetan Book of the Dead from the time I was a small child. I know well what the Tibetans write will happen as and after we die, and I can't say they're wrong...however it wasn't anything like what I saw and experienced

What I saw is that we are surrounded by and part of an immense intelligence, and that intelligence knows us down to the last stray thought...and fully accepts us flaws and all because we are it's creation, we are made from and by whatever it is made of, infused with the same spark of consciousness and awareness

that greater intelligence views the world through us, it experiences itself through us and this experience of creation, while creating, gives it endless amounts of joy...something so intense it is almost orgasmic

I think some of the Christian mystics like Theresa D'Avilla, when they went into deep prayer and had their 'passions', when they speak of the 'ecstasy' of the saints...I think the old medieval fathers were trying to avoid saying that a genuine experience of God is so personal, so overwhelming and awakens so many parts of you that were previously dormant...down to physical it is basically orgasmic....

the problem is we are still so limited in our understanding, so afraid of experiences, overcome with fear, that we create these false ideologies, beliefs which write off half of creation...but how can that be, when all of it is at the heart created by the same intelligence, is part of the same light - for lack of a better word?

that is where I believe the eastern philosophies are more encompassing

it is our own limitations of vision which cause us to experience hell outside our physical form, and I think that is because of the immense guilt and judgment we pass on ourselves

I sensed no judgment from that intelligent conscious light...yes a loving suggestion on how I could have done something better - when I flashed to the memory of a big fight I had had the night with a dear friend, but no harsh judgment.

That part we do to myself without any help....we are our own harshest jury, and we know if we didn't live up to the contract we made with ourselves....

again, not sure if this makes any sense, I guess I'm just writing free flow, trying to tap into memories here and not shape it too much

....

His NDE occurred in 1975.

he apparently gained other 'psychic' abilities, too. Telepathy and psychometry.

But before people get depressed, the thing that one must know about visions, and that includes NDEs, is that they are only one of the timelines available to us, but not the only outcome. Very few things if any are carved into stone, I believe

Collectively, as conscious intentional sprits, if we can alter our patterns, raise the level at which we function, we can change the timeline. People must realize that this reality is constantly being created as we perceive it and interact. That is why it is so important to ignore the fear based media except for the most basic of news and avoid creating an echo chamber of fear

There is, however, a tremendous amount of momentum associated with certain paths a nation will take and that is very difficult to change although it can be mitigated

This is pretty much what I believe as well (at least for the current time being) : )

I would rather keep it on this thread, but I will share what I know, because it may be of help to someone

so far, it has helped me and my small family dodge a few bullets - financially speaking - but everyone must find the truth within

As Marcus Aurelius wrote...

Everything we hear is an opinion, not a fact. Everything we see is a perspective, not the truth

Best Wishes,

And here's a GLP-appropriate Bible verse (atheists may read, too):

God chose what is foolish in the world to shame the wise, God chose what is weak in the world to shame the strong.

pg 29

Chemical warfare played a role in a horrible vision of terrorism that takes place in France before2000. It begins when the French publish a book that infuriates the Arab world. I don't know the title of this book, but the result of its publication is a chemical attack by Arabs on a city in France. Achemical is put into the water supply, and thousands drink it and die before it can be eliminated.

Scenes from World War III came to life before me. I was in a hundred places at once, from deserts toforests, and saw a world filled with fighting and chaos. Somehow it was clear that this final war, anArmaggedon if you will, was caused by fear. In one of the most puzzling visions of all, I saw an armyof women in black robes and veils marching through a European city.

"The fear these people are feeling is an unnecessary one," said the Being of Light. "But it is a fear sogreat that humans will give up all freedoms in the name of safety."

This is quite alarming ... a Russian book (The Mosque of Notre Dame, 2048) published in France, and armies of Muslims in the streets of Paris as a show of force...

It seems maybe both of these may come true soon?
