As the 21st of December nears, Russian authorities are attempting to quell fears that the world will come to end amid panic over what some experts claim are the predictions of the Mayan Calendar.

As a consequence the Russian government's minister for emergency situations has sought to calm panic over the prophecy, saying he had access to "methods of monitoring what is occurring on the planet Earth," and that he could say with confidence that the world was not going to end in December.

In France, authorities are taking steps to prevent access to Bugarach mountain, which is thought by some esoterics to be a sacred place that will protect them from the end of the world. Reports claim websites in the US have been selling tickets to access the mountain.

December 21, 2012 is very relevant to Bible prophecy.

I’ve been researching prophecy for years and have a new prophecy book out this month. Some will say it’s lame to promote my book here but I believe in my conclusions so when I suggest looking at my web site it is to make information (at least my main points) known to those who are interested, not to earn $2/hour for the thousands of hours of work I put into this. Although my publisher chose a very Mayan title and cover for my book, it is mostly about End Times Bible prophecy. I conclude that such prophecies are best understood through an astronomical interpretation of an ancient Jewish wedding ceremony, and applying those concepts to Christ coming back for His bride. These events clearly take place in the sky in December 2019, especially starting 12/21/2019, and at no other time for thousands of years before or after.

I must therefore conclude that the end of the Mayan Long Count on 12/21/2012 is the start of the seven year tribulation, and that while the world absolutely will NOT end that day, the S might unquestioningly begin to HTF this month. It would fit prophecies well if a globe-changing event occurs this month, including but not limited to a huge war in the Middle East starting very soon and wrapping up with a seven year peace treaty between Israel and her enemies.
