In the UK we have a sewer side well between the tracks. Do they have the same n your subway

If anyone has ever taken the subway in NYC you know what a unpleasant experience it is.

I just imagine that poor victim trying to live his life, commuting like cattle every day and trying to provide for your kids. Add all the normal stresses and then the menancing black guy harraassing everyone because he can and you ask him to stop and he throws you unto the tracks....

Why hate on the black simply becuase of this one incident, people of all colors do horrible thing's...there is no need for racism.

What a horrible thing to happen and a horrible way to go, there is no shame in dying at the hands of another but I would hope for a better method then the one this poor man faced.

When I was younger, a job in NYC was equated with success. What a joke.

It should be sealed off and all the decent people given a chance to escape...

The sad and terrifying end of this man's life is so unjust and I wish there was someone like Don Coreleone down in the subway yesterday who would have just destroyed that black menance.

Because that is our sick society. Must get a good shot for the youtube video and make it go viral.

Believe me people, it is only going to get worse.

I guess posts about women getting their periods, dumb dreams about past lives and making up new math to explain dumb crap that never happens matters more of this board then everyday doom that doesn't phase most people in the slightest because though they so desparately wish for doom they have never experienced it.

rest in peace and i pray for this man's poor family as his life was taken in such a disturbing manner and i pray for the rest of us sheeple who have to endure everyday menances like the sicko that that did this just to make a living...

It was around noon time in Times Square, probably quite a few of the spectators (who ran the other way rather than trying to help) were tourists. Still this doesn't speak well of New Yorkers.

I used to work very close to where this happened.

I am shocked that nobody had the presence of mind to lay down on the floor, feet away from the tracks, and offer hands to help the guy up. I thought at least a couple people would have an instinct for lifesaving. No I am not a professional first responder, though I did take a course to qualify as a Red Cross lifeguard (for swimmers).

They ran the other way! Maybe I don't know this country any more, the place where I was born.

Some people can't react in a situation like this. Consider taking the subway everyday and having to put up with all the menancing people around and try to make it to your job without getting harrassed, pushed, touched or aggressively bothered by all the freaks. Most people have tuned so out and are so affraid to get into a confrontation - they become like cattle. This poor guy pushed onto the platform actually told that horrible black menance to stop bothering people and he was thrown in front of a train for it. nyc is a hell hole.

Good point, normal people are traumatized already and they often aren't made of heroic material. I've done foolish heroic things before and almost gotten in real trouble(and I am an average dude, no super gym muscle guy or anything), and you do start thinking twice about getting in certain business of other people. But I must say without a doubt that I would have lifted that man up and saved his life. And if the black menace was still around I would have first pushed HIM into the tracks.

In the late 90s, early oughts I had a contract assignment in Manhattan and I worked and lived there for 6-9 months. I can not tell you how lad I was when it was finished and I could go home to New Hampshire. At first it was fun as I had never spent any length of time there but trust me it didnt take long for the novelty to wear off

Btw why aren't there emergency alarms that communicate to the train driver so that people can activate when such thing occurs?

Actually I normally would like to say something bad about the photographer but it if it was me I would be leary of getting to close to a panicked man that is almost too low to help I mean, if he is panicked about dying (and you know he is)he might grab you and try to crawl up hard and pull you in.

Kind of what lifeguards deal with when they get close to panicked drowning victims. They can get climbed on and killed by trying to help.

What ii want to know is why the fuck are there not at least some toe holds and handles on that wall to help someone climb out on their own?! They would only have to drill some in, like what mountain climbers chizel into the walls of rocks.
Might take all of one work shift with an electric jack hammer to put some toe holds in that wall to complete one subway stop.

There's just so many ways to avoid such accident happening. This event leaves nyc subway in evidence.

In NYC the train runs right up next to the stop .. I'm surprised there isn't indents in the walls .. in all the old train tracks tunnels I travel there is indents in the wall for protection if a train comes ..

So sad :(

I got chills reading that .. the news said his wife tried calling him all day over an early morning fight and never got a hold of him ..

Never walk away or go to bed upset with the ones you truly love .. something I need to learn!

He actually was the photographer for the New York post .. that is the f/u part is his first instinct wasn't to attempt to save a life .. it was to make money through is bad job ...

I thought about that and do agree .. but if I lost my life trying to save a helpless person .. I doubt if I could regret it I would .. it would have just been my first instinct to grab him .. adrenaline style ..

He had seconds .. and the wall appears to reach only right under his arms ..

yea... it's easy. it's sad and all, but this guy did it to himself, got in that dudes face, dude told him to go away like 5 times... then he's down there and can't even use adrenalin to boost himself into locked arms and press up and out?

it was definitely his time.

No .. the guy was protecting passengers .. and the man through him on the tracks for trying to break it up ..
