My eyes have beheld the blasted heath...

I lost a five year old child when I was a paramedic. He was ejected from an SUV. He died talking to me, I will take it to my grave. Watching the life slip from him and being unable to do anything!

It was before we had RSI protocols so tubing him was out until he essentially stopped breathing. His injuries were what is termed 'incompatible with life'.

Presidents. If for just one four year term we could try something different, I'd feel better.

Ten minutes.

Leaving my house ten minutes early to do an errand before work and looking at my husband who followed me to the garage and not going back to hug him & tell him how much I loved him.

Ten minutes later three men attacked him in our garage. If I had stayed and just ridden to work with him like we usually did it would have made the difference. But since I didn't stay those ten minutes it was three against one and he didn't have his body holster on yet - I found it later sitting on his dresser.

Those ten minutes of choosing to do the wrong thing will haunt me forever. There's not a day I don't think of it.

My mother died of cancer also and the sounds she made, the anguished moans she made in her pain haunt me. I can still hear her today, 5yrs later.
