Australia Enforces Cigarette Packs With Disturbing Images | |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 29088901 Australia 12/04/2012 05:14 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I gave up back in March, but the gory images on the packets wasn't what did it. In fact, since I was pissed off at the government for using such childish means of perception management, I probably smoked a couple of years longer than I would have. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 29090289 Australia 12/04/2012 05:24 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Australia is a test bed. Soon it'll be gory images of shooting victims on firearms boxes in the US or gory images of obese people in cardiac arrest on butter tubs in Canada... They cannot (yet) just ban these things so they will try to traumatise you with unpleasant photos and non-scientific "proof" that their way of thinking is the right one. Meanwhile the various strains of hybrid wheat which go into EVERYTHING processed and which have most likely contributed majorly to the western world's obesity epidemic are cleared for sale without extra taxes and without a being identified as "the bad guy". |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 29088901 Thats great to hear! I too gave up smoking about 6 months ago. I simply was sick of tossing my money away, and the poor heath it gave me. I went on a big health kick this last year, and smoking just didnt fit anymore :) I honestly dont miss them one bit. Well... I cant say that... every so often I crave the habit, but its out of my head as quick as it entered. I suppose that may always be with me. Again, congrats to you as well :) The real truth isn't for everybody |
xBehindthetruthx (OP) User ID: 13609245 United States 12/04/2012 05:31 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | How about disturbing images of politicians and bankers in their more indiscreet moments on the advertising bill boards they use. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 4473716 Or would that be too horrifing? We can only dream! But where would the funding come from? The government usually backs stuff like the above topic, and Im SURE they wouldn't draw the curtains on themselves :P The real truth isn't for everybody |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 28265721 Australia 12/04/2012 06:16 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I gave up about 5 months ago. Wasn't too bad. Once I decided to stop the odd craving could be squashed. It wasn't because of these images, just had enough of hacking and gurgling and paying through the nose for poisoned tobacco. We don't even know where it's grown or how, anymore. They closed down all the farms here. However, these images are a form of deep hypnosis. Subconscious barbs, to make people get sicker than they might - if they smoke. The power of suggestion. Magick. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 29055983 Australia 12/04/2012 06:29 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | images been there for quite some years now. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 29091606 don't think its reduced smoking. kids think it's kinda cool. Smoking is on the decline because of the images no doubt about it. Now the cigarette pack are no longer maked with logos of anykind only a verry small brand name in plain lettering. The rest of the pack has images of the legacy that smoking leaves behind. Its a good thing I wish this was around when I was a kid. Cigarette companies are evil I cant wait for the rest of the world to adopt the same strategies |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 24122548 Canada 12/04/2012 06:56 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | You guys are so behind the times. I mean really. Canada has cigarette packs with oral cancer all over a tongue and rotten teeth on a pretty girl and red blood dribble peed into a toilet. We have had these nasty images and health warnings on our cigarettes for over 10 years. Every year they change the pictures. Health Canada picks the pictures and the Cigarette producers have to print them on the front of the packs. Big Fucking Hairy Deal. Who the fuck cares. People need to know what smoking does and what it looks like because they are too stupid to figure it out for themselves. If people would get smart and educate themselves and not do stupid things then they would not have to be told their stupid. Stupid. Smoking costs the Health Care Systems WorldWide Hundreds of Millions of Dollars. Thats why smoking is now banned all over the place. |

Sadly, his condition is more likely the result of radiation treatment. So very sad with billions of dollars sent for cancer treatments, and chemo and radiation seems to be all they have. |
