Hmmm I know there is a special story here!
 Quoting: J-Honey

Where hubby & I spent our 1st & 2nd honeymoon.

My dad loved the Temperance River area (about 2 hours north of there).

Whenever I go there, I feel more at home than I do here where I've lived for about 15 1/2 years.
 Quoting: mopar28m

I know what you mean. I felt more at home where one of my daughters went to college than anywhere else I've been, and it's about 900 miles from where I live. I must have lived there in another life, and it must have been good.

Basically the Grand Central Station of reality. Some call it "the Source", others "the Collective".

Now, according to your rules, I couldn't go anywhere from there...but I would be able to experience everything that existence has to offer from there. cool2

Haha, Apollo, I can't say I blame him...

My life isn't perfect, but if you think of all the great periods of time, and all the great people who lived.......I'm sure MOST of them would say they would rather be somewhere else if they had a choice....

Kind of like the grass is always greener on the other side, you know? Is it really though!?

The beautiful thing about being a human being, unlike any other creature on this planet that we know of......we CAN go where we want, in our minds. That is why movies, novels, comics, hell even documentaries and autobiographies are so great. They give us a glimpse of what it was like, in someone ELSES shoes.

I could think of dozens, perhaps hundreds, even thousands or places that would be better than here.

Of course, how well would any of REALLY fit in, if we magically teleported to another time and place? Would we get home sick? Would the place ever really live up to our expectations? Perhaps.....perhaps not....

What if the borders between each and every one of us isn't as concrete as we think? What if, after we die, we get to experience whichever life we wish to, that any human has ever lived? Who knows?

I would like to think that the time and place ones lives is merely the external circumstances of your reality. The external circumstances no doubt provides the cirriculim by which we experience, but I feel that more important than the time and place of a humans life, is how they REACT to their external environment.

In other words, some of the great men that ever lived, perhaps would have made the same out of life, regardless of where and when they were born. That is just something to ponder.

One of the little towns bordering Glacier Park, even though they're deep in snow most of the year.
It is in the interest of Tyrants to reduce the people to Ignorance and Vice. For they cannot live in any Country where Virtue and Knowledge prevail. The religion and public Liberty of a People are intimately connected; their Interests are interwoven, they cannot subsist separately; and therefore they rise and fall together. For this Reason, it is always observable, that those who are combined to destroy the People’s Liberties, practice every Art to poison their Morals. Sam Adams

I am happy exactly where I am thank you.
I am living life and thats all I can ask for.

I guess if I had a portal I would have to choose this physical realm in a body so I can EXPERIENCE!!!!!!!!!!

As in a physical location I am everywhere and nowhere already so your question doesn't really make sense...

Considering the time we're living in, I might journey back the past 10, 6,500 years to see what the hell happens every time we pass over the Dark Rift. The journey would take 10 days so I would need get going soon so I could come back here and post my observances. Doom or no doom out of so many trips back over 650,000 years. I'd be tempted to stay in one of them if it weren't for the Sabertooths.

Everyone's posts have been so interesting, its intriguing to see where our urges are derived from...

some want to go to a place out of love, or out of the feeling of home

some want to go to relax, to get away

some want to go to another era to experience a different lifestyle

some want to go to seemingly impossible (in our lifetime) places for adventure....

pretty neat responses I think!

Tahiti (of anywhere in Polynesia) before it was "discovered" by white man. Comfortable weather, pure water, warm seas, plenty of fish and fruit, and from what I understand it was a matriarchal society ... there was plenty of leisure time for lovemaking, swimming, surfing and enjoyment of life as food was plentiful and the weather warm, no need for much shelter or clothing ... children were raised by all, love and generosity and spirituality were what life consisted of.

Sorta how life was meant to be on planet Earth ...

If you could choose one place to immediately portal too where would it be?

--- your home is base, you are not homeless, and your home never changes. You still must come home......

---your place you choose never changes either

---you can go straight there and back, anytime you want....but no detours.

---Any place, any time period is possible.

So? Where would it be?
