If you are familiar with the show and I'm judging from the posts here that many of you are not, you would know that the writers do a lot of research whether it be fringe science, the paranormal, cryptids, etc. Books and a few TV shows about the Mayan "end date" have been around since the late 70's. Legitimate reports, personal accounts, and even fairy tales were a few of the many sources that the writers called upon and anything 2012 related was probably used.

I find it strange NBC Nightly News has a segment on NASA saying nothing will happen on the 21st of December and right after that have a segment on lying with a cartoon of Pinnochio telling a lie and his nose getting longer. It dealt with the heat your face gives off. It just seemed odd and out of place. HMMMMMM......

Nah, the date was totally out there back then. I knew about it, and I'm no more than a casual conspiracy junky. The writers of a show with a basic premise of conspiracy and paranormal are going to be aware of the theories that are out there. It's safe to assume the writers were aware of the whole Mayan prophecy theory and chose the date specifically.

As far as the Lone Gunmen, I'm sure the idea of crashing planes into a building as an act of terrorism isn't something new but the fact that they mention WTC is very suspicious.

Yeah, The Running Man by Richard Bachman (aka Stephen King) had a terrorist running a plane into a building, too.

In the film 'Deep Impact', at the point where the teenager astronomer is going to go into the ark bunker, there is a view of the entrance to the bunker, and there were two massive white numbers, set in a black background: 21 and 23.....in between the numbers was a hexagon shaped seal, with a pyramid & all seeing eye, (just like the one on dollar bills) & stars & stripes.
So the number 22 is pointed towards there as a 'secret in plain sight' (missing between 21 & 23)with connections to the Federal Reserve issued dollar bill with the all seeing eye.
Further to that, within the whole scene.....chosen people were going into that bunker that had a connection to the number 22.

Oh yeah, I'm definitely not a shill but fans of the show will be the first to tell you X-Files has so many references crammed into their episodes you'd have to be very knowledgeable or an expert to catch them all.
