Can a straight man and a straight woman really be friends and not have sex ?

The minute a man and a woman who were friends have sex... they are no longer friends.

Seen it, lived it, too many times to count.

The ONLY way for a man and a woman to be friends, in my opinion, is if they NEVER have sex, or anything intimate like kissing and hugging.

Sure, if one or the other is too hideous for the other to consider having sex with them.

But shouldnt it be Friends AND lovers ? isnt that the way it should be ....you dont marry an enemy after all ..you dont have a long term relationship with an enemy after all.

Weird, huh? Not really. We're cool with it. Neither one of us is ugly either, we simply couldn't live together, and have no illusions about trying it again. It was the best sex life either one of us ever had, but that is NOT enough to sustain a relationship when you're always on each others' nerves.

i thought so but then the women I was friends with got angry and said I wa sonly friends with them because I wasn't attracted to them physically. In a way, they were right.

depends on how close of friends they are. casual friends or business "forced" friends can. if there is an attraction at the basic level, however, then no.

I hear ya about a relationship. I don't want "just" sex either... even though people tell me I need a "friend with benefits" (often it is a woman telling me this LOL)... not for me.

But I also know I cannot coexist with someone in a relationship. I am too selfish, too introverted, too stubborn to share my life.

So I remain happily single. Luckily I have two hands. This way, if I happen to lose one in an accident I can still make myself happy. I should be ok until I die many years from now.

In all seriousness... the relationship I seek will not be based on sex - that is important of course, but it is down the list in importance.

To me, a good relationship is one where both people share common interests. With my ex-wife, it was like we were the odd couple. I like sports, golf especially... she liked to shop and hang out with friends and basically do nothing while hanging, except chit chat ad nauseum about stupid shit like gossip.

No, it is true that it's hard to find.

I moved to Scottsdale, Arizona - commonly considered one of the most ideal places for a golfer to live (some like Florida but I hate humidity)... and yet I haven't met any single, halfway-decent-looking female golfers here yet.

If I were in my 20's, I could hang out at ASU and mingle with the college golfer babes... but I'm about twice their age now. LOL

Someday. The whole key is never give up, never lose hope, and never lose sight of your dreams and goals. We must MAKE them happen.
