 Quoting: ? 945308

Matthew 11:27
“All things have been committed to me by my Father. No one knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and those to whom the Son chooses to reveal him.

John 1:14
The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.

John 1:18
No one has ever seen God, but the one and only Son, who is himself God and is in closest relationship with the Father, has made him known.

John 10:30
I and the Father are one.”

John 14:6
Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

John 14:21
Whoever has my commands and keeps them is the one who loves me. The one who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I too will love them and show myself to them.”

John 17:21
that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me.

Ephesians 2:18
For through him we both have access to the Father by one Spirit.

1 John 2:23
No one who denies the Son has the Father; whoever acknowledges the Son has the Father also.

John 1

King James Version (KJV)

1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

2 The same was in the beginning with God.

3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.

4 In him was life; and the life was the light of men.

5 And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.

Jesus didn't say "don't call me good". He wanted to know why the man was calling him good. Did this man know to whom exactly he was speaking? If he's saying that Jesus is "good", is it because he knows He is "God"? Jesus is saying, "If you say that I am good, remember that only God is good". Jesus often said more by saying less.

The Father was greater than the Son for a time. Rember Jesus "made himself nothing, taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness". While on earth in human skin, Jesus was lesser than the Father. He was exalted again when He returned to the Father.

Re: Why do Christians think Jesus is GOD?
Jesus clearly claimed to be God Almighty that is why He was crucified on the cross. Jesus also clearly accepted worship, Jesus never refused worship. Please read and study the following passages to clear your understanding of who Jesus is who He says He is.

Revelation 1:8: I am the Alpha and the Omega says the Lord God, "who is, and who was, and who is to come, the Almighty.

Revelation 1:17-18: When I saw him, I fell at his feet as though dead. Then he placed his right hand on me and said: Do not be afraid, I am the First and the Last. I am the Living One, I was dead, and behold I am alive forever and ever!

John 10:30: I and the Father are one.

John 8:58: I tell you the truth, before Abraham was born, I Am (Yah Weh)!

Note: The original Hebrew is YHWH – we add the vowels to match our vernacular.

John 8:19: You do not know me or my Father. "If you knew me you would also know my Father.

John 20:20: Thomas answered and said to Him, "My Lord and My God! Jesus said to him, Thomas because you have seen Me, you have believed. Blessed are those who have not seen and believe.
 Quoting: No Dhimmi

First off, the book of Revelation is a vision received by John of Patmos while he was dying on the Galapagos Islands. It was not Christ during his ministry, but rather than perception of Christ in the mind of the writer displayed on paper.

Secondly, I was told by a Biblical scholar that each Gospel was written for a different group of people. Through my own research, I come to the conclusion that each of them was written by a different Christian practitioner within varying sects of religion/spirituality/philosophy of the time they were written (which were well after the death of Christ). The Gospel of John was written to convey the message of Christ to more mystic leaning spiritualists. They were moreso the type to have beliefs that would be affirmed by a Messiah as God scenario.

Therefore, those verses are not truly indicative of what Christ actually did nor how he carried himself. Rather, they exist to portray an underlying message that (at that place and time) were hard to convey in a singular, cohesive manner. So instead, they conveyed the principles by speaking in the tongues of their audience. See what I'm getting at?

Boy you really have to stretch here don't you?

You have your logic tied all up in knots to unmake what the guy said, he is clearly saying that he is NOT God.

He is CLEARLY saying in both of these quotes that he is separate from God.

He clearly is stating that the two are not the same, and one is better...and the better one is not himself.

He also says this -

"By myself I can do nothing; I judge only as I hear, and my judgment is just, for I seek not to please myself but him who sent me..."

John 5:30

I myself can do NOTHING...

He is stating here that he is powerless, he can do nothing. He cannot judge, he cannot perform miracles, he cannot do anything at all without God.

Meaning he is not God.

God is clearly separate from Jesus, who Jesus even admits that is a superior power.

You have taken a humble servant of God and turned him into a deity, which is idol worship...

By not allowing yourself to understand the clear message with these fantastical flights of fancy and not taking the man at his words and twisting his words to support your idol worship you have in fact taken yourself into the realm of idolatry.

what about the one whom the Father set apart as his very own and sent into the world? Why then do you accuse me of blasphemy because I said, 'I am God's Son'?

The Trinity was not taught by Jesus or the first century Christians. It came about with Constantine when he was trying to merge pagan and Christian beliefs together in the Council of Nicea.

God can't die and never will. If a person believes God died and not God's son then they aren't Christian.

In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. And the Word was made flesh.
 Quoting: Evil Cretin

In the beginning was the word: God has no beginning but his son does.

and the word was with God: there are two persons here. Jesus and God. God cannot be with God. But God's son can be with God. Also there is no third 'person'(holy spirit) mentioned so no trinity here. For a trinity there should have been three mentioned and there is not. There is only Father and son. Two distinct individuals. Not one.

Again, the Trinity was taken from pagan teachings and originated with Constantine and the Council of Nicaea.

"We are not stoning you for any of these," replied the Jews, "but for blasphemy, because you, a mere man, claim to be God."
John 10:33
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 24009796

You took that scripture out of context. If you go further down Jesus refutes this by telling them he is God's son.

John 10:
33 “We are not stoning you for any good work,” they replied, “but for blasphemy, because you, a mere man, claim to be God.”

34 Jesus answered them, “Is it not written in your Law, ‘I have said you are “gods”’? 35 If he called them ‘gods,’ to whom the word of God came—and Scripture cannot be set aside—

36 what about the one whom the Father set apart as his very own and sent into the world? Why then do you accuse me of blasphemy because I said, ‘I am God’s Son’?

He tells them that God SENT him to earth. Not that he sent himself.

It would have been blasphemy for Jesus to call himself God and he clearly states that and tells them he is God's son and not God.

all the scriptures in the world would still keep you asking this question...

proof is a relative word....

proof as in miracles?
proof as in experience?
proof as in scripture?

there are many forms of proof.

Jesus never claimed to be god, he claimed to be in commune with the father. This is something ALL children can go. Jesus worshipped Yahweh just like every other god fearing jew. Although jesus took the fear out of the equation.

Jesus did not want to be worshipped

Jesus MADE SURE to destroy ANY WRITINGS he wrote... he didn't want anything lost in translation on paper and distorted.. Kind of funny right?

its an oral tradition...

and even if it seems through 2,000 years of chaos, which jesus said would happen....

the oral tradition was passed on :)

Jesus and his Father are in agreement. Not that they are the same person. People say this all the time. That they are one with another person. It doesn't mean they are the other person.

29 My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all; no one can snatch them out of my Father’s hand. 30 I and the Father are one.”

God needs to be given nothing. But his son was given followers or sheep. This again denotes God is greater than Jesus. Even Jesus said his Father is greater than ALL.

And if you continue reading Jesus refutes even being God by saying he is God's son.

Re: Why do Christians think Jesus is GOD?
"Why do Christians think Jesus is GOD?"

for the same reason jews asked God for a King : to imitate pagan nations having kings and rulers, for the community/country to be lead by one "ruler", for war as a first purpose.

Saul (Hebrew: "asked for, prayed for"; Arabic: Saoul; Latin: Saul) (circa 1079 BC – 1007 BC) was, according to the Bible and Qur'an, the first king of the united Kingdom of Israel.
[link to en.wikipedia.org]

christians want to feel special through Jesus "being" God (or son of God or whatever) the same way jews feel special through holyland "given" to them.

that's pathetic.

if God were to be in human form, no one would be able to stare at Him the same way you cant look at the sun without losing your vision, and our sun has very little bright...

if God were to be dead (crux), His creation would have instantly collapsed (i.e universe(s))...picture or it didnt happen.

if Jesus were to be God son, then you invent the idea that God needs and wants a family the same way mamifers do...the problem is that God is alone and needs nothing, absolutly nothing, no son , no family, not you , not me, nothing.

there's so much evidence about the total illogic of christian myths about God and Jesus that God called them "the lost ones" (faithfull but on a wrong path) the same way He called the jews "the disobediant ones" (not faithfull but knowing the path)

I listen to Jesus himself...

"Why do you call me good?" Jesus answered. "No one is good--except God alone."

Mark 10:18

"The Father is greater than I, the father is greater than all"..."

John 14:28

If this doesn't settle it then I don't know what will...

Their brainwashing has took its toll: brain damage is perfect. Sigh.

Of course He couldn't do anything without God the Father's help. He was completely human. Any powers displayed on Earth were from the Father. How does this mean He wasn't God? He chose to empty himself of His divine supernatural powers for 33 years. The "humble servant of God", as you say, declared Himself one with the Father and said He was in fact the great "I am" of the OT (e.g., Jehova God). Is He Liar, Lunatic, or Lord God? You picked two scriptures that can be justified, while ignoring the many others that support His divinity.

Re: Why do Christians think Jesus is GOD?
What verses do you quote to prove this?
.

John 1:1 - "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God."
John 1:14 - "And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, glory as of the only begotten from the Father, full of grace and truth."
John 5:18 - "For this cause therefore the Jews were seeking all the more to kill Him, because He not only was breaking the Sabbath, but also was calling God His own Father, making Himself equal with God."
John 8:24 - "I said therefore to you, that you shall die in your sins; for unless you believe that I am He, you shall die in your sins."
Note: In the Greek, "He" is not there.
John 8:58 - "Jesus said to them, 'Truly, truly, I say to you, before Abraham was born, I am.'"
Exodus 3:14 - "And God said to Moses, 'I AM WHO I AM'; and He said, Thus you shall say to the sons of Israel, ‘I AM has sent me to you.’"
John 10:30-33 - "I and the Father are one." 31 The Jews took up stones again to stone Him. 32 Jesus answered them, "I showed you many good works from the Father; for which of them are you stoning Me?" 33 The Jews answered Him, "For a good work we do not stone You, but for blasphemy; and because You, being a man, make Yourself out to be God."
John 20:28 - "Thomas answered and said to Him, "My Lord and my God!"
Col. 2:9 - "For in Him all the fullness of Deity dwells in bodily form."
Phil. 2:5-8 - "Have this attitude in yourselves which was also in Christ Jesus, 6 who, although He existed in the form of God, did not regard equality with God a thing to be grasped, 7 but emptied Himself, taking the form of a bond-servant, and being made in the likeness of men. 8 And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. 9 Therefore also God highly exalted Him, and bestowed on Him the name which is above every name, 10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those who are in heaven, and on earth, and under the earth, 11 and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father."
Heb. 1:8 - "But of the Son He says, "Thy throne, O God, is forever and ever, and the righteous scepter is the scepter of His kingdom."
Quoted from Psalm 45:6, "Thy throne, O God, is forever and ever; a scepter of uprightness is the scepter of Thy kingdom."
