Their brainwashing has took its toll: brain damage is perfect. Sigh.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 26268975

Jesus didn't say "don't call me good". He wanted to know why the man was calling him good. Did this man know to whom exactly he was speaking? If he's saying that Jesus is "good", is it because he knows He is "God"? Jesus is saying, "If you say that I am good, remember that only God is good". Jesus often said more by saying less.

The Father was greater than the Son for a time. Rember Jesus "made himself nothing, taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness". While on earth in human skin, Jesus was lesser than the Father. He was exalted again when He returned to the Father.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 85989

Boy you really have to stretch here don't you?

You have your logic tied all up in knots to unmake what the guy said, he is clearly saying that he is NOT God.

He is CLEARLY saying in both of these quotes that he is separate from God.

He clearly is stating that the two are not the same, and one is better...and the better one is not himself.

He also says this -

"By myself I can do nothing; I judge only as I hear, and my judgment is just, for I seek not to please myself but him who sent me..."

John 5:30

I myself can do NOTHING...

He is stating here that he is powerless, he can do nothing. He cannot judge, he cannot perform miracles, he cannot do anything at all without God.

Meaning he is not God.

God is clearly separate from Jesus, who Jesus even admits that is a superior power.

You have taken a humble servant of God and turned him into a deity, which is idol worship...

By not allowing yourself to understand the clear message with these fantastical flights of fancy and not taking the man at his words and twisting his words to support your idol worship you have in fact taken yourself into the realm of idolatry.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 29131573

Of course He couldn't do anything without God the Father's help. He was completely human. Any powers displayed on Earth were from the Father. How does this mean He wasn't God? He chose to empty himself of His divine supernatural powers for 33 years. The "humble servant of God", as you say, declared Himself one with the Father and said He was in fact the great "I am" of the OT (e.g., Jehova God). Is He Liar, Lunatic, or Lord God? You picked two scriptures that can be justified, while ignoring the many others that support His divinity.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 85989

God does not split Himself up and then lower Himself to become human and then die. That is insanity and impossible and not biblical. Almighty God cannot die. He is dynamic energy.

God created His son and sent him to earth and Jesus then died for our sins. It is very simple and laid out for us in bible.

Re: Why do Christians think Jesus is GOD?
I know, that Jesus was and is a God's son. As well as I know, that every single of us is the son of God. The church has denied Jesus all human qualities - only he can work wonders, he did not come into being by a sexual act and had no sexual contacts. Therefore, he must be an incarnation of God! Jesus Christ was absolutely a prominent charismatic personality. He is an admirable person who absolutely cured also people and did many other miraculous things.
The church presents him, nevertheless, as inaccessible. Therefore, they falsified his true apprenticeship, because such a representation is in awesome contradiction to that what Jesus wanted to teach his people. He wanted to show us that we are able to be just like him and therefore reach (become) God by him if we are as he is. There is a gigantic difference to do miraculous and some first level value and then to say that I also would be able to do this, or whether it is shown as an inaccessible miracle of an inaccessible God. The second variation is that of the church propagated. The person is small and to this great God you can come only via the church, you alone cannot manage it. This gives power to the church and limits from the start the possibilities of the person.
Jesus did not found the Catholic Church. Persons like you and me have founded confessions, supported on their faith. Either based on the history of Jesus, Buddha, Krishna or Mohammed or based on that what they believed what would have happened. Jesus did not come to found a religious community. He came to the people to show: „Hello people, I am a person like you and look all the things I can do. You are also able to do this. I am a person like you. I am the son of God, as well as you. You can become like God, as well as I am. “This was his life-task, this was his teachings.
Jesus was a person like you and me, also with all human qualities. One needs only to think about his fit of rage in the temple when he knocked flying states of stallholders and was wild. Today he would very probably do the same, in view of the wealth of Vatican and the 1 billion people that suffer or die of hunger. Yes, I am sure of that. He also has preached at that time not in his own "church", but went to the poor man, outcasts and dying - and this free of charge. Probably he was also married and had therefore a partner (Maria Magdalena) as it was just usual at this time. There is also nothing wrong with it, it is quite simply the human nature. Thus, an orgasm is the union with the highest source. There exists no time at such a moment, it is the pure being.
The falsification of the Bible and the teachings of Jesus by the Catholic Church are absolutely like the falsifications of other religious communities, although I do not have the same idea there. What is now the coming development of the confessions? Religion is the absence of experience. The senses are closer to God than the rational consciousness. Without experience, any theory will resolve. Consequence from it: With the increasing spirituality of the people, the religious communities are condemned to death. Everybody will know that God is in itself and dogmas and laws of religious communities become obsolete. Only by independent thinking and action, you can serve the creator.

 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 85989

See you are extrapolating to suit your own desires rather than taking the approach of just listening and discerning for yourself what is obvious.

It is clear that you want very badly to set up others with God, either making Jesus into some lesser deity, or making him God, or making him "son of God", but somehow, Christians must "fill in the blanks or themselves and insist on idolizing Jesus.

This is exactly opposite of the message of all of the religious texts if you read them for what they are.

God has a clear message throughout, and he has a #1 commandment, which is to worship him and him alone.

Satan has devised many ways to trick the individual into going against this main commandment, and all of the hundreds of Christian sects have their different ways to pick and choose through scripture to enforce their own way of idol worship.

It would be better to throw all of these away, and do what God commands, and worship only him.

It is YOU that are picking and choosing. I follow his clear command throughout the old and new testament, and I do not set up partners, sons, idols, or any other persons or deities next to God almighty.

By doing this I read the bible and I get a clear message, there is no contradiction, there is no place that Jesus specifically states that he is anything but Gods messenger.

He has some powers to do miracles and so forth, however he explicitly states that he is only dong these things by Gods permission, and that the power to do them is not his.

So obviously he is special and chosen to deliver a message, however to elevate him to a degree that he is either deity or son of deity is idolatry.

You give me false choices and box me in by saying - "either he is liar, lunatic, or God himself" - there is another option!

He is a human, made by God to serve the purpose of again spreading the message to people of what God is and what God wants, to a people who despite being given this same message by countless others just like him cannot seem to get the message.

The main message is, and always has been that there is a creator God, who wants us to worship him and him alone, full stop.

He wasn't a liar, or lunatic, or a God...

You have made him either of these three by your closed mindedness and insistence on setting up idols next to God...

As countless other generations have before you, and this is why God has to continue to send messengers all of the time to try to pound it into peoples heads.

Good luck to you on your path, but I am taking the safe route and choosing to worship only God, the unseen, the creator, that is nothing like flesh and blood, and i will put my faith in the creator.

You can worship men if you want to or elevate them in status until they are some sort of demi God, but I fear my lord and would never dare to have that kind of gall.

Re: Why do Christians think Jesus is GOD?
They don't read the bible.

The name Je'sus = ZEUS.

So the Christian church took what they needed from the real MESSIAH who walked this Earth, and applied it to Cesare Borgia, gave you the name Zeus (Jesus) and gave you a satanic doctrine which says ZEUS (Jesus) is GOD among a bunch of things (sunday worship, easter, christmas etc etc).

See how that works? Not to mention, the etymology on GOD is interesting in itself lol.

Like Christ said, many shall come in my name saying I am Christ and shall deceive many. CHRISTianity should be your number one suspect.

Yashayah = Saviour.

John 5:16-18,

"And for this reason the Jews were persecuting Jesus, because He was doing these things on the Sabbath. 17But He answered them, 'My Father is working until now, and I Myself am working. 18For this cause therefore the Jews were seeking all the more to kill Him, because He not only was breaking the Sabbath, but also was calling God His own Father, making Himself equal with God."

The Jews of the day thought Jesus was calling Himself equal with the Father. In Luke 5, as well:

When Jesus saw how much faith they had, he said to the crippled man, "My friend, your sins are forgiven."
The Pharisees and the experts began arguing, "Jesus must think he is God! Only God can forgive sins."

Jesus never said he was equal to God. He was one with God like we can all be one with God. We can be in agreement and harmony with God. But that doesn't make us God.

Re: Why do Christians think Jesus is GOD?
Of course He couldn't do anything without God the Father's help. He was completely human. Any powers displayed on Earth were from the Father. How does this mean He wasn't God? He chose to empty himself of His divine supernatural powers for 33 years. The "humble servant of God", as you say, declared Himself one with the Father and said He was in fact the great "I am" of the OT (e.g., Jehova God). Is He Liar, Lunatic, or Lord God? You picked two scriptures that can be justified, while ignoring the many others that support His divinity.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 85989

Jesus said he was the great "I am". He said he was the Word (which was with God and was God). Was he a liar, because He knew He wasn't the I AM, but claimed to be anyway. Was he a lunatic or Lord because, he was crazy and really thought He was the I AM, though He wasn't. Or He is actually Lord-- truly the I AM, as he claimed to be.

Re: Why do Christians think Jesus is GOD?
Calling yourself God, as in putting yourself equal to the Creator, is blasphemy.

Thus.

I call myself God, I blaspheme.
You call yourself God, you blaspheme.

But, wait. This guy named Jesus calls himself God, and he's not a blasphemer? In fact, he's the savior of all mankind? Because Jesus said he was God in the flesh, he is God and not a blasphemer? It's perverse, and people are unwilling to challenge the idea of Christ because they're afraid of an eternity in hell, whatever that may be.

This is not to say Jesus taught atrocities or evil doctrine, but blasphemy is blasphemy. And just because you have the courage to blaspheme knowing the consequence is death does not mean he was anything more or less than a human being like us.

We should not need proof of a Creator when all we have to do is look around us.

God is your savior. Have faith in God, not religious texts that could have easilty been manipulated to serve an agenda and imprison the minds of people.

I've put my trust in the Creator. God. I know that it is him who provides salvation, and all good things that make this temporary journey through misery, hate, and death easier to cope with.

Re: Why do Christians think Jesus is GOD?
Ask yourself:

If Jesus was GOD,

- then why in Mark 12:29 did Jesus say, "Here, O Israel: The Lord our God is one Lord." The words "our God" indicate that Jesus had a higher God over him, a stronger God than him. Jesus didn't say "Your God". He said "our God" which includes Jesus as the creation of GOD.

If Jesus was GOD,

- then why in John 20:17 did Jesus say, "I ascend to my God and your God? This tells us that we and Jesus have a common GOD.

If Jesus was GOD,

- then why in John 8:28 did Jesus say, "I do nothing of myself"? Can't GOD do anything he wills?

If Jesus was GOD,

- then why in John 14:28 did Jesus say, "My Father (GOD) is greater than I"?

If Jesus was GOD,

- then why in Luke 23:46 did Jesus say, "Father (GOD), into thy hands I commend my spirit"?

If Jesus was GOD,

- then why in Matthew 19:16 did Jesus say, "Why call me good, there is none good but One, that is GOD"?

If Jesus was GOD,

- then why in Matthew 26:39 did Jesus beg his GOD to have mercy on him and to pass the cup to death (kill Jesus in another words) before Jesus goes through the pain of crucifixion? Also see: Jesus's crucifixion in Islam.

If Jesus was GOD,

- then why in John 18:38 didn't he reply when he was asked about the truth.

If Jesus was GOD,

- then why in Matthew 24:36 did Jesus tell his followers that no one (including Jesus) knows when the judgment day will come, only GOD knows?

If Jesus was GOD,

- then why in Isaiah 11:2-3 did GOD put the spirit of fearing GOD in Jesus?

If Jesus was GOD,

- then why in John 5:31 did Jesus tell his followers that if he (Jesus) bears witness of himself, then his record is not true?

If Jesus was GOD,

- then why in John 5:30 did Jesus tell his followers that he can't do a single thing of his own initiative?

If Jesus was GOD,

- then why in John 5:36 did Jesus say that GOD had assigned him (Jesus) work and GOD is a witness on Jesus?

If Jesus was GOD,

- then why in John 5:32 did Jesus tell his followers that they have never seen GOD at anytime nor ever heard his voice?

If Jesus was GOD,

- then why did he pray to his GOD in Luke 5:16?

If Jesus was GOD,

- then why in Matthew 26:39 did Jesus fall on his face and prayed to his GOD?

While I do agree there are some places in the bible that Jesus SEEMS to be claiming divinity, there are just as many others that he clearly says and shows that he is NOT God.

At the least we must agree that the text is full of contradiction.

I do not blame these contradictions on Jesus, as Jesus did not write the Bible, but even the very fact that Jesus prayed to God shows clearly that Jesus s NOT God...

In the Lords prayer even Jesus says "OUR FATHER who is in heaven"...

He didn't say "ME who is in heaven"...

He didn't say "MY FATHER who is in heaven"...

He said "OUR FATHER"

ALL OF US.

GOD, completely unique, the creator, not flesh and blood, not human...

two things:

Jesus was also completely human

and

There were reasons why Jesus revealed Himself in the manner that he did.
