He who is the Almighty became a suckling baby.

He who is all wise took on the dumbness of a newborn.

He whom the heavens cannot contain was enclosed in a woman’s womb.

He before whom the seraphim continually cry “Holy, Holy, Holy” was born of a sinner into a world under the dominion of sin.

He who is unchanging went through nine months of contrast, of constant change, to enter a world of change.

He who is all-knowing had to communicate through baby cries.

He who is infinite became a microscopic cell.

He who is love was born outside a hotel because no one had room for his laboring mother.

He who is the creator became a creature.

He who has always been spirit took on the awkwardness of a human body.

He who is Eternal allowed himself to be bound by time.

He who is light was entombed for nine months in warm blackness.

He who is just was accused of being an illegitimate child.

He who is sovereign God became dependent on a human man and woman for his food and clothing.

He who is clothed with majesty was born in a cattle trough.

He who alone is self-sufficient had to be cleaned and nursed.

He who is life was born with a death warrant around his neck.

Can there be a greater mystery?

Can there be a greater miracle?

Excellent question. Based on Scripture, I conclude baby Jesus was highly vulnerable, so God intervened to protect Him.

Matt 1:13: And when they were departed, behold, the angel of the Lord appeareth to Joseph in a dream, saying, Arise, and take the young child and his mother, and flee into Egypt, and be thou there until I bring thee word: for Herod will seek the young child to destroy him.

That is what i've been thinking this Christmas Season. He just humbled Himself into the dust for us!!!

Interesting, I have been reflecting on the same idea this Christmas season.

Truly, anyone should be able to see the goodness of God in all of this. If there is a greater miracle than His birth then perhaps it is Him allowing Himself to finally be murdered.

The extremists, those are the pirates who would attack caravans and travelers (this is why the wise men, had to take altered routes part of the time and did not really make it at the same time.) They had to "true up" their travels with natural law devices, of which the wise men had full knowledge, and could do so effectively. (Like the way we make the light turn green before we get there, or make sure there is a parking spot near the door of the store just as we leave the house to drive there.)

And the Mass. The general population who could not recognize their own healing, if it hit them on the head.

Agreed. As a baby, Jesus had not yet received the Holy Spirit, so my GUESS is that He did not yet have the power to project Himself. (I am a little shaky on the idea and plan to look into it more). When He was crucified, He had all power and could have refused the crucifixion.

hmmm... interesting thinking. Right, He did not have the Holy Spirit when He was born. I think He was at the mercy of those arround Him which is why the Angel told them to flee shortly after His birth.

The part that confuses me, and which I will need to review, is how the Holy Spirit could have conceived Jesus, and Jesus not have the Holy Spirit. Also, when Mary met Elizabeth, John the Baptist jumped in her womb; he had the Holy Spirit even in the womb. I have some reading to do.

While we are at it... Was Jesus "born again" ???

He is the firstborn into eternal life, I believe, given that that everyone born again is born of the Spirit which became available only after Jesus rose and ascended. All of these great questions, and so many assumptions I have never really challenged. And I still have not opened my Bible this evening. But I will! I know the answers are there.

when Lucifer was tempting YAHshua in the wilderness he cited that if YAHshua threw himself from the high place the angels were charged to make sure He didn't dash His foot on a rock and they would rescue Him immediately.

I believe that the Herod thing had a purpose or it would not have happened as it did. That purpose may be somewhere in the hundreds of prophesies in the Old Testament that all point to that one person born in a manger in Bethlehem.

YAHshua (Jesus) didn't start His ministry until He was around 30 years old. He told Mary at the wedding feast that His time was not yet arrived for His ministry, yet to honor His earthly mother, He did as she asked.

How did Mary have such faith? She wasn't intending to ask something that He could not do. She knew He had power. There may be interesting stories there that have not been recorded for us.

Jesus was weakened by Kryptonite, right? Wait. That's Superman.

Jesus could only use his powers once a year, right? Wait. That's Santa Claus.

Jesus had the ability to put teeth under children's pillows, right? Wait. That's the Tooth Fairy.

It's hard to keep fictional characters straight.

How incredibly uninformed. Even religions that reject Christianity do not dispute Jesus' existence.
