Trust me on this one, you're not the only person in the world. There are a *lot* of people just like you, and you can count me in as one of them. There was a period in my life a few years back where everyone in my close circle of friends was one of these people.

A little back story: I was raised in a very Hebraic-minded, fundamentalist, Charismatic Christian Church, i.e. Pentecostalism. They practiced many things that if done any *any* other setting, they'd have labeled as heresy. In other words, I grew up in a den of Pharisees. When I say grew up, I literally mean grew up. They had a church school (which coincidentally (?) was destroyed in a gasoline and water flood a few years back) where they indoctrinated children into believing whatever the hell they wanted to pass off as truth according to their own beliefs. One thing I remembered a few days ago (could be off on this): they mis-credited Galileo with disproving the flat earth theory while neglecting to speak about his actual accomplishment, being that the earth revolves around the sun, and not the other way around. Another thing that stuck out to me: they labeled FDR as the most dangerous president of all time -- an Anti-Christ who lead the world toward secular humanism and had a mission to destroy Christian values. You can say what you want about the man (and as a leftist libertarian, I disagree with many of his big-government plans), but I'm pretty sure that anyone with more than a few neurons clicking upstairs can see that they made quite possibly the worst argument possible against him.

There was a woman that would take the mic every Sunday and read one of her "prophecies", which were usually her opinion on the actions of fellow members of the congregation. She would begin every statement with, "The Lord says..." then would continue on with a vague, cryptic, moralistic rant against her fellow people.

They would refer to anything not of their church, or of churches they approved of, as "The World", and would propagate an Us Vs. Them mentality convincing their members that Christians were a segregated, hated minority when we all know that the fact is that Christianity is the largest religion in the world and has been for at least the past 1600 or so years since it was co-opted by the Roman Empire. So, in essence, they would foster a cult mentality by spreading disinformation through the schooling of children, propping up false prophets, and consistently damning anyone and everyone.

My family was heavily involved in this church. We would help bring in members to serve in their ministries without pay. My sister was the head of one such ministry. When she became pregnant with a child out of wedlock, they paraded her in front of the congregation to "account for her sins" and humiliated her publicly for a non-crime of passion. During this time, my brother was the youth pastor. I'll get to the importance of that soon. My parents went through a divorce. My father lead the communion ministry. He would assemble the communion process with my help, and we would moderate it all during service (handing out grape juice [because they didn't believe in alcohol] and passing out mahtzo). After my sister had left the church, my mother took over the multi-media minsitry (handling the computer that provided displays for the projection screen and coordinating others to handle these duties for various services). Because my mother's ministry was more specialized, therefore more valuable, after the divorce, my father was asked to leave the church. He did so willingly because his sister had been an involved member and left because she and my uncle saw the place for what is was: a half-assed, hypocratic cult (my aunt was in charge of women's ministries, btw, and claimed that 90% of her time was spent cleaning up messes caused by the gossiping, "The Lord Says..." false prophet cunt [who I now refer to as a Smoke-Blowing Dragon Bitch]).

Back to my brother, the youth pastor. During his time indoctrinating the congregation's teenagers, he had an affair with a girl that had been a part of his youth group (she was more than of age, btw). Just as they did my sister, they publicly crucified and exiled him. This caused quite a divide, if not something of a church split. I stuck around for a while. During this time, I started to smoke an exorbitant amount of pot and started to become quite irreverent. They played a game of shoring up the base and playing sides, gathering up "loyal followers". I couldn't and wouldn't ever betray my blood, so the more they pushed for me to "join their side", the more irreverent I became. For some reason, they *hated* Rastafarianism. So, during a youth trip to Canada (on which I purchased my first pipe, a bag of dank as Canadian herb, my first and only Cuban cigar and bag of Salvia extract x20 [which I have a whole different story on if you're interested ;-)]), I purchased a necklace with Bob Marley on it. They didn't like that so much. The new/old youth pastor (he had previously been in that position before passing the torch to my brother) began to vehemently preach against Rastafarianism in his "sermons". This was a quite Crowley-like period for me, because I was by no means into that religion, though I pushed it simply because they hated it for an inexplicable reason. In the youth group, I was in charge of multi-media. I called the shots on what music was played. The youth pastor was into Matisyahu (because he was Hassidic [side note: the church was adopting Messianic Judaism at this time, and the youth pastor was the son of the head pastor, who was Jewish. The youth pastor was his adopted son, and wasn't Jewish at all. In fact, he more or less consisted of Viking blood ]). In response to the Matisyahu love, I would play Bob Marley every week with a defense of, "His lyrics and message pretty accurately portray everything your Bible teaches." This was an intensely funny and enjoyable time for me.

Eventually, they kicked me out the group and blacklisted me from ever attending again, even though their motto was: Once a Crusader (the youth group's name), always a Crusader. The reason being, I bummed a cigarette to a 15 year old girl (I was 17 at the time) before service one night.

In the few years before that, I'd already began my journey into paths other than Christianity. Started reading Kerouac and the Beats (particularly William S. Burroughs). Respective of that, I'd get into Naturalism, Existentialism, Buddhism and Metaphysics, then Hinduism, and later the Occult. I'd find that many of the concepts I was hypocritically taught were expressed more clearly, thoroughly, sincerely, and truthfully in avenues other than the strict, Judaic, cult-minded form of Christianity I'd been raised in.

After my exodus from Christianity and my pursuit of different ideas, I'd get into the drug scene, where I'd be somewhat of a loser as opposed to my elevated status amongst the Bible-bashing, bully-minded Christian cretins. I would accept this because even as the lowest character of the group, I'd find more self-validation and more truth in the world they had warned me of. At some point, I'd begin to become something of a Facebook warrior (i.e. being a preacher [in a very Occult-minded, Contrarian sense] on that fucking thing before it was so damned common). Eventually, I'd start to gain some recognition and notoriety. Many people from that church who had made their own exodus were around me at the time, some of them following me (I don't know why, my life was pretty shitty, hence the Facebook contrarian preacher, druggy lifestyle). I'd get quite a bit of unwanted attention that I neither wanted nor was prepared for at the time. People would "awaken" around me, thinking that they were the Second Coming. It became quite odd, and due to being fairly involved in the drug scene, I became quite paranoid and more or less cut out of the social scene. Here I am now, which leads me to:



Indeed it is. I've seen some very strange things and occurrences. I've seen some very strange behavior in people. I've experienced much in my short time, and I've come to the conclusion that you're quite right. Judgment Day is coming, if not here already. And this leads me back to my original point. You're not the only one. You're not the "New Age Messiah". There are many of us. Many people are awakening at a rapid pace these days. The traditions and mindsets of the old world are dying and you, I, and countless others are rising up as righteous shepherds to guide the weak through the transition. But you're quite angry. You need to be more responsible with the gifts you've been given. I apologize if that seems authoritative and judgmental, but it's true. You have a gift, and if you continue on in anger, you'll become just like those you hate. We can't let that happen. We need to make sure that the New Age is ushered in smoothly without blemish. You already know this, though.

And this is the "mega fail" of most spiritualists/religionists. To you, it's some kind of philosophical war. Most that get a taste take it upon themselves to damn this or damn that. Their whole intent is to prove something or someone wrong. They experience enlightenment and use it as a weapon of chaos, or maybe become a weapon of chaos. Either way, this isn't the point of it all and that method typically ends up accomplishing the exact opposite result of what they intend to do. Instead of leading people to detachment from religion, that method oftentimes pushes people farther into their attachment, validating it by giving them a villain.
