Perhaps the U.S. gov't wants to "do this one correctly," whatever that may mean to them. This provides a framework for bipartisanship in order to prosecute a war that 90% of the folks on capitol hill will think is necessary.

The President will say, "Yup, I'm going to work with Congress on this; we'll do it (the plan) expeditiously and have full bipartisan support, an authorization in place, if military action is necessary."

This would/does send another message to Assad: The ass-stomping would be restricted in time, but highly kinetic during the period of hostilities. Logistically, Syria is super doubleplus easy compared to Afghanistan or even Iraq, meaning the amount of force NATO can bring to bear in a very short period of time--10-25 days--will be unprecedented.

Remember, NATO and the US have bases in, use agreements with, Cyprus, Malta, Greece, Israel, Turkey and Jordan. On top of that you have the specialized forces of the Europeans who have been tasked with chemwar capabilities.

And the logistics, command and control of the Israelis, Saudis, etc., etc.

So ALL of this apparatus is being arrayed against Assad. And he has to think long and hard: does he want to somehow get out alive, or does he want to see practically everyone he's ever known dead. Does he want a palace shootout ending with him pulling the trigger on himself, or any other number of possible alternatives.

As humans stopping wars doesn't seem possible. We can postpone them but the only way to stop war for a decent amount of time is with war.

Yesterday's "release" of information that the "new" EMP weapon has been created (yeah, we know it's been around and functional for some time) in order to begin planting the thought in the mind of the viewer that this may be "THE" weapon to best address a current situation without the greater death count as with either conventional or nuclear weapons.

If you are reading this site, then try to remember the larger balance of the US and the world receive their information and news via the MSM, and that is primarily through the major network outlets. As a result, this tempered information is typically the extent of their knowledge pertaining to a specific event or series of events.

The primary, underlying purpose of all MSM - and this applies to left/ right/ over the edge - is to handle, control, and disseminate information as it becomes pertinent. The more you begin seeing/ hearing "news" referring to new weaponry, as well as specific countries or entities mentioned as actors, the closer to any event taking place we likely are.

A release of too much information of either weaponry or potential events would cause a public panic similar to lighting firecrackers within a herd of buffalo.
