We have new manufacturing jobs coming in my area... Mostly food (cheese and yogurt) and traditional leather mills but also some high-tech stuff like nano-technology and that spin-off from AMD for processor manufacturing isn't that far from here. I don't get it? Who on earth would want to be here with such taxes and the unions? Must be one hell of a tax break... |

If a person takes other peoples money at gun point or with the threat of imprisonment, then, yes, they are indeed a parasite, your wonderful brother who worked his adult life, and your dad the scientist are indeed parasites. Especially whenever you consider that the government they worked for, keeps cures for cancer secret, locks up anyone with treatments, and keeps almost all alternative power sources not related to something they can tax, classified, or just simply kill the scientists who create it. Yes, they are parasites, the truth is harsh but true. Zing! No doubt brother. It's all in the reflexes. |

| Anonymous Coward User ID: 24183289 12/05/2012 01:04 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | NW Arkansas here. Nice modest house in a good neighborhood. Property tax is about $350 / year and that's refunded each year because of the Arkansas homestead tax credit. Arkansas has no public debt either and lives within its means of revenue collected. Revenue for schools is collected yearly through personal property tax. It's assessed once a year and is based on what you claim to posses. Any registered vehicle is mandatory, all other items are voluntary but goes against what you claim to home insurance provider if you house is destroyed. Property and personal taxes each year run around $800 / year, but like I said, $350 is refunded each year. Home taxes in Arkansas are pretty much assessed based on life style. It seems to work well. |

We have a failing public school system in which more money is spent on teacher salaries, benefits, and retirements then on the students themselves. The kids make due with out dated text books and materials while the teachers remain fat and happy. My father in law was a school teacher who retired with a pension of $ 4600. per month.
