Homeowners Fee (yup, property isn't even technically mine): $2400/yr

I'm assessed at $170,000

#4 Alabama

And on top of that, Jefferson County/Birmingham is also on the brink and has major issues with municipal bonds for a sewer expansion. Possible default in order.

Corrupt politicians seem to be the driving force behind that.

I'm really surprised that NY wasn't #2 on that list! #6.. the state is doing better than I ever though.

We have new manufacturing jobs coming in my area... Mostly food (cheese and yogurt) and traditional leather mills but also some high-tech stuff like nano-technology and that spin-off from AMD for processor manufacturing isn't that far from here.

I don't get it? Who on earth would want to be here with such taxes and the unions? Must be one hell of a tax break...

So now people who work for the state government are takers too? I should tell this to my brother who worked all his adult life at a state job and is now retired. Sometimes he complains about the lazy parasites, I'll tell him he's now considered one too! My dad was a government scientist who developed a lot of things, guess he was a taker too... (what bullshit).

It's because state workers (all federal workers) are supported by taxes paid by the private sector workers. All of government workers salaries, benefits, pensions are inordinately high compared to private sector and are paid through tax monies. ALL of their earnings come from tax dollars.... kind of recycled. I was a state worker for a few years, and people in state jobs are mostly paper shufflers who really accomplish nothing of benefit to the private sector producers.

Correct if you work for the government you are indeed a parasite.

If a person takes other peoples money at gun point or with the threat of imprisonment, then, yes, they are indeed a parasite, your wonderful brother who worked his adult life, and your dad the scientist are indeed parasites.

Especially whenever you consider that the government they worked for, keeps cures for cancer secret, locks up anyone with treatments, and keeps almost all alternative power sources not related to something they can tax, classified, or just simply kill the scientists who create it.

Yes, they are parasites, the truth is harsh but true.

NW Arkansas here. Nice modest house in a good neighborhood. Property tax is about $350 / year and that's refunded each year because of the Arkansas homestead tax credit.

Arkansas has no public debt either and lives within its means of revenue collected.

Revenue for schools is collected yearly through personal property tax. It's assessed once a year and is based on what you claim to posses. Any registered vehicle is mandatory, all other items are voluntary but goes against what you claim to home insurance provider if you house is destroyed.

Property and personal taxes each year run around $800 / year, but like I said, $350 is refunded each year.

Home taxes in Arkansas are pretty much assessed based on life style. It seems to work well.

I live in Ohio and the property taxes are getting out of control here. We have a failing public school system in which more money is spent on teacher salaries, benefits, and retirements then on the students themselves. The kids make due with out dated text books and materials while the teachers remain fat and happy.

My father in law was a school teacher who retired with a pension of $ 4600. per month. Quite a handsome reward for a guy who taught wood shop...Since his death, my mother in law who NEVER HAD A JOB IN HER LIFE continues to collect his full pension. She is a bigger parasite than any worm found in the intestines.

I was just saying on Facebook how it's time to leave Illinois. The state senate just announced that they will allow undocumented illegal immigrants to get drivers licenses. I haven't been able to get my driver's license back for 6 years because I know how to install N02 on a car and they call me a "risk." This state is so fucked, and when the state that the president comes from is fucked, you can bet he will try to fuck up the rest of the U.S.
