Joseph is the founder of the Levites and high priest who is the first son of Israel. Hence, the Levites are the judges of Israel.
This name of Israel also as a hidden allegorical meaning. This name Israel is the first attempt of the brotherhood in forming a "one world religion" based on the three main religions at the time. This new religion would incorporate three gods/goddesses known to the world as Isis, Ra and El that most anyone can clearly identify with the name Israel.
* Isis is the goddess of fertility, wife of Osiris and mother of Horus.
* Ra is the sun god, worshiped as the creator of all life. From earliest times he was associated with the pharaoh and the Egyptian priesthood of Ammon Ra
* El Ēl or Il was the supreme god, the father of humankind. El is the father of the Temple also known as Baal
What you need to understand that when Jacob was renamed Israel is that this was the new formation and beginnings of a new peoples united by religion, faith and blood. Jacob would be the anointed Father of these new peoples that we can find represented in the Authorized King James Version, Genesis 37:3 reads: Now Israel loved Joseph more than all his children, because he was the son of his old age: and he made him a coat of many colours.

I think this is a serious piece to the end time puzzle/ they didn't HAVE to wander in the desert for 40 years! they did not trust God even tho He had performed miracle after miracle for them in bringing them forth out of Egypt. he led them by night with a pillar of light and covered them from the sun with a cloud during the day. he sent flocks of quail directly to them to feed them, supplied them with manna while they stumbled about in the desert because they didn't trust or believe upon Him after all he had done, including parting the Red Sea, etc. God told them to go into the land and take possession of it, that the giants had been killed. they disbelieved. because these were "cowards" they lost an entire generation. it wasn't until the next generation was old enough for a child to step forward and take out the ONE remaining giant in the land (Goliath) with a sling shot, that that second generation had the courage to go forth as commanded of the Lord. God doesn't like soddish people, stiff necked and ignorant, however He has shown tremendous patience with the lot of us from the get go. What He cannot tolerate and doesn't well abide is COWARDS. read it and weep
