The government should set a program to rebuild the city thus creating JOBS and more money into the economy due to rejuvenation of a metropolis.

The "Detroit" problem is the issue that it's Black Population is unproductive, uneducated, and believe in a thuggery, suck on the government tit, lifestyle. They add NO value to the greater economy, but instead are drains on the greater economy.

Replace the Black population of Detroit with an equal number of totally poor Jewish people ... and voila within 20 years it would be thriving again, and in 50 years would probably be the wealthiest city in the United States.

The REAL problem with Detroit is the attitude and lifestyle choices of it's residents. Until you change that Detroit will not be climbing out of the shitter no matter how much money you throw at it.

Detroit has been in serious decline and trouble for decades, since the 70s. Why have city, Michigan, and federal authorities not done a better job of dealing with this situation? How could the state of Michigan think it's biggest city and most important metro area could go on like it has for the past 40 plus years?

No fucking way should it be bailed out. Let the city re-form, re-organize, declare bankruptcy if necessary [and at least have legal protection from creditors]. Large parts of the city [Detroit is very big place] are simply abandoned, whole neighborhoods. But there are parts that are OK, and the downtown core has a present and future. I'd say drastic measures are needed, maybe just tearing down ALL buildings in disrepair, shutting off abandoned sections of the city, consolidating the remaining 700,000 + population in the livable parts, and thinking out of the box regarding the now empty parts.

But there's still a huge violent crime problem, massive level of 'poverty' [those on government assistance], the whole nine yards. But you have to stop throwing good money after bad. Maybe the state needs to seize control of the city, and really clean house.

Yeah, you're right. Go to any urban area in the U.S. and who are the local entrepreneurs? Who operate the local shops, restaurants, etc? Almost always Hispanic, Asian, or whites. And when there are black entrepreneurs they are usually not American born. Most American 'ghetto' areas look a lot better today and have far more retail outlets, restaurants, etc., than they did 25-30 years ago, and like I said it's almost all because of Hispanics, Asians, and whites. If it were left exclusively to American born black folks in these neighborhoods, there'd be nothing except the local social security office and welfare office. Seriously.
