Anonymous Coward User ID: 27603250 United States 12/05/2012 04:00 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | If I knew it would help the country i'd give half my paycheck for the rest of my life. But I know that It would make no difference if every working american did the same....so what if, the national debt was say 1 million dollars, what difference would it make in future generations. There is to much rampant greed and un filtered power in the world to make life what it should be, peaceful and free, all borders wide open to you and me. I believe 1 day the powers that be, whom make life miserable for the populous will see what they do they cannot sustain and freedom in humanity will be the only thing that will set humanity free. It is in the stars above and cannot be changed, it will happen one day.Back to our roots the land of the brave the land of the free, it need to be true to the world not just the U.S.A., without politics, without religion just with humanity: Give me your tired, your poor, Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free; The wretched refuse of your teeming shore, Send these, the homeless, Tempest-tossed to me I lift my lamp beside the golden door! Not like the brazen giant of Greek fame, With conquering limbs astride from land to land; Here at our sea-washed sunset gates shall stand A mighty woman with a torch, whose flame is the imprisoned lightning, And her name, Mother of Exiles. From her beacon-hand glows world-wide welcome; Her mild eyes command the air-bridged harbor That twin cities frame. "Keep, Ancient Lands, your storied pomp!" Cries she with silent lips. Give me your tired, your poor, Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free; The wretched refuse of your teeming shore, Send these, the homeless, Tempest-tossed to me I lift my lamp beside the golden door! |
Mr. Toppit User ID: 26466623 United States 12/05/2012 04:01 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Interesting article but a bit of a misleading title. Quoting: Psych I hope we are going to see a lot of threads on this subject in the very near future because this is going to be very interesting. Whichever decision will be made, it will have major consequences for most likely the lower- and middle class. Obama said a rise in the debt ceiling would have to be a part of a deal to avert the so-called "fiscal cliff. In essence, I agree with that. Except, we already know they are going to f*** this up royally. Exhibit A: This morning, the U.S. Treasury outlined the so-called "McConnell Provision," which would change the debt ceiling not into something that has to be raised, but something that has to be voted against. Under the proposal, the debt ceiling would automatically rise unless Congress voted against it. Quoting: [link to www.businessinsider.com] They will never vote against Obama's budget again. It will always be tied to raising the debt ceiling. Congress gets cut out altogether. What what .... none dare call it treason. Last Edited by Mr. Toppit on 12/05/2012 04:05 PM |

The rope isn't a bungee cord this time around. They are truly fracked by all their past negotiation lies and cooked books. These guys couldn't write a credible budget if their lives depended on it. In the chasm we slide ... fake negotiation and all. There is one big fat NOTHING at the end of the rainbow. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 26339407 Keep the debt ceiling unchanged, and force the government to not take any more debt. But the Republicans are PUSSIES, and surely they will raise the debt ceiling! Everyone in the permanent political class are pussies. Passive aggressive wastrels in both parties. They get paid to create this drama. The tax code (anti-christ) and the beast (threat of war) is the story these actors cant get enough of playing the part. Fix the tax code or fix the debt. Then civilization might move past these reruns. These actors will be forced to allocate money properly and come up with a new, compelling story to tell. I'm a writer, but have been around big politicians a little (yuck) knowing what little I do, what you wrote it the closest to bullseye that I've read. truth has a shine to it. thank you |

Quoting: abeliever I just moved from the midwest to the east coast. I was there for three years. Store after store, and restaurant after restaurant closed. It was sad to see this. More to come, I'm afraid. Midwest hasn't had significant infrastructure investment in 50 years. I drove thru and it looked the same as when I was a kid --THE SAME BUILDINGS, BRIDGES ETC. Nothing new. East coast is a little better in that regard. In his first term, recall Obama just wanted "shovel ready projects" which means nothing big or ambitious. He's made noises about doing some major infrastructure this time, and it is well past time to do so. |

Personally, I would prefer a national sales tax. But, I hope they leave the home deduction intact. For a long term fix, they are going to have to deal with Social Security and Medicare. They also need to quit allowing government workers (which included military) to retire after 20 years. Vest them, but don't let them collect until they reach retirement age, which should be pushed to 70. I'm tired of seeing all these 40- year-olds retiring. |
