It is much easier to pay off things and stick to a budget without kids. I am glad to work for my kids well being; I love them so... However, I am now a single parent close to fifty with still young kiddos, by the time I can think of retiring I will most likely be renting a room somewhere as my ex left us penniless and homeless. Been tough to rebuild but I have done it. That is great you have been focused on living debt free, congrats!! |

That is great you have been focused on living debt free, congrats!! never been married and no kids, and really only ever been in love twice but after 37 years in so fl PLENTY of girlfriends so i have been quite lucky in that respect as far as messy relationships. no bagage here and it is really much easier when there are no kids to raise and support and God never blessed me so it is what it is and in THIS nasty world, i feel relieved to have not. i have the utmost respect for you and for what you have been through and still remain steadfast in your love for your children and you are to be commended. thank you and everybody that have had kind words for what i have shared.... But, a condo is your worst investment.. with the fees and taxes not to mention the loss of equity, you would be better off renting and buying metals to stave off inflation.. i didn't buy it as an investment.... i bought it to live in and again, short of winning the lottery, they will carry me out of here in a body bag and cremate me and throw my ashes off the commerical pier into the atlantic ocean cause that has already been arranged. the values are back up in the community and my condo has been completely upgraded with new kitchen, bathrooms, hurricane shutters, hot tub on the patio that if i sell goes with the place, matching paddle fans throughout and all new tile. the girls out in weston at work call the crib, 'the love shack'... Sorry to inform you that it's tough as hell to live on SS, and I even get a little extra from a small retirement annuity. Even though my piece of shit house is paid for and my two 12 year old plus vehicles are paid for. living expenses only around 700 and i got 100K in a ESOP account but i can't get it for four years and an oil company just offered 200K for the 50 acre farm my mother grew up on in WV so everything is everything. Tell the oil company to give you more for your land.... They will make a fortune off it, make them pay for it!! |

Quoting: thetrickybigguy pay off was just above 56K and by paying it off now i saved 22K in interest over the next seven years and the tax write off on the interest will probably be taken away from us eventually so i think i made the right move.... and besides when the dollar collapses all that dough will be worthless. no more 900 dollar payment each month!! and i know it's a blast from the very distant past but interest rates can actually go up ... ... as well as down. |
