In what city?

Didn't the same thing happen somewhere a couple of days ago, police stood by and let the crowd set the Iqwan (MB) headquarters on fire?

Violent clashes in Alexandria (Sidi Gaber) ... my friend used the words "disaster" and "massacre."

I'm searching for news that reports something other than "clashes."

20:25 Dozens demonstrate in front of the Muslim Brotherhood’s Freedom and Justice Party headquarters in Suez City, protesting what they described as a Brotherhood assault on the sit-in at the presidential palace, reported state agency MENA. Security forces are surrounding the headquarters.

20:22 Ahram Online reporter Ahmed Feteha spots a man using a firearm against the Brotherhood supporters. "It seems he is not adept at using firearms, but he has been using it recklessly," Feteha says.

Great, now we get the common idiot using a firearm, lets hope when he does make a mistake, he injures or kills himself and not someone else. Oh wait...why isn't he arrested? It's LEGAL now to go to a protest with weapons? Where is the police supposedly protecting peaceful protesters and citizens?

21:50 Hundreds of protesters in the coastal city of Alexandria marched from Victor Emmanuel Square in the Smouha district to Sidi Gaber Square, stopping traffic in the main streets of the city, Al-Ahram’s Arabic website reports.

21:47 Deputy head of the Freedom and Justice Party Essam El-Erian claimed during a call-in to the Muslim Brotherhood's Misr 25 television channel that the ongoing clashes are not between two groups of revolutionaries but rather skirmishes between “supporters of the revolution and counter-revolutionaries carrying out thuggish practices.”

He also claimed that former regime allies including former presidential candidate Ahmed Shafiq, television host Tawfiq Okasha, former MP Mohamed Abou-Hamed, head of the Constitution Party Mohamed ElBaradei, and former presidential candidate Amr Moussa, "are responsible for the ongoing bloodshed."

He called on Egyptians to go to the vicinity of the palace to detain the “thugs and hand them to the rulers of justice, so that everyone knows who in fact is financing them and providing them with the pellets and Molotov cocktails.”

Starting to become clearer the picture now imo. Some names are just a plain give-away!

I'm off eating and watching soccer, it's calm now, there's attempts that will not be going further than this now. Khalas - Justice will prevail!

Al Jazeera English showed a man with a handgun in the crowd of anti-Morsi demonstrators in Cairo. He was waving it around in the air, and a bunch of other protestors wrestled it away from him. The gun looked like a shiny chrome revolver.

Yup - just saw that on the news update.

Plus this:

22:20 Ahram Online's Osman El-Sharnoubi says hundreds of anti-Morsi protesters and pro-Morsi supporters are debating the ongoing political crisis in small circles, in the nearby Salah Salem Boulevard. "The environment is friendly here," El-Sharnoubi added.

Thanks for that excellent Twitter update, telling us bout something that happened a few hours ago.

It's calm now, or calmer , there's thugs in side streets battling each other, the regular protesters aren't fighting anymore. All live cams are side streets.....go figure it out.

Nobody will give them the pleasure of a civil war, won't happen. For all I care, let the idiots kill each other in an isolated place, then we're rid of paid thugs and ignorants and extremists. All sides win.

From the USA, we have a tradition of armed insurrection, granted it was over 200 years ago ... so I am sympathetic to this guy. Not only that, he's on the right side. It's wrong for Morsi and MB to make themselves kings.

Egypt is a country of laws and it is illegal, in general, for anyone to possess a gun without a proper permit.

However, since the revolution, that law hasn't been enforced so much.
