Then there is this today.

High-income Californians may pay nation's highest tax rate

Thanks to passage of Proposition 30 last month, high-income Californians would pay the nation's highest marginal income tax rates -- nearly 52 percent -- if President Barack Obama and Congress fail to make a deal to avoid the so-called "fiscal cliff," according to a new study.

Without a fiscal cliff deal to the contrary, the Bush era tax cuts on high-income taxpayers would expire next year and rates would return to their previous levels. That action raised California over other high-tax jurisdictions to a marginal rate of 51.9 percent, slightly higher than New York City's level. Hawaii was the only other place with a calculated rate above 50 percent.

Here's a crazy thought, reduce spending AND decrease taxes.

Nah, too logical!!

You know how Obama is always going on about "fair"?

Well, I think the FAIREST thing to do would be to raise taxes for Democrats and lower them for Republicans and Independents!! After all, the Dems voted for higher taxes, it's only FAIR that they be FIRST to have to pay them!!

You are all greedy....

I'm happy to pay higher taxes if it means getting this country out of debt and back to it's glory days of the Clinton administration.

STFU or leave!

ps.. yes i work full time, yes I am single, yes I am white, yes I am male, yes I am in rural America, yes I am liberal ( and proud of it), yes I am spiritual but do not claim a religion, yes I recycle, yes I do own a gun and shoot it at the range or wildlife area... anyway.. just a little disclosure.

And finally

Yes I think that income tax should be 0% and there should be a spending tax instead. If you want to buy a yacht, sports car, the latest high-tech thingy-mc'jig, well then you should pay out the ass for it... but you would have more money 'cause you income would not be taxed... and imports should be taxed even higher... buy American made whenever possible, and if not possible, maybe you don't need it.

sorry for the rant..

once again... most of you are soo freaking greedy it's sad.

Ding Ding, we have a winner. Of course the wealthy, and republicans wouldn't want this because it would balance the game more. Poor people would actually be able to save, albeit, doing without whilst saving, but they can actually have a chance to save, invest, and make it! While the rich would only have to pay even more for the "SHIT" that they needlessly buy.. especialy all those trust fund brats who don't work at all, living off of limited riches... those would out a lot more quickly if a high spending tax was enacted.

Hey smart guy... one day you just might find your way out of that big bubble full of life long lies to realize that it does NOT matter who is sitting in the puppet house, this shit would still be happening. Romney is Obama and Obama is Romney.
Both are being dangled by the same strings that are controlled by the same puppet masters.
One day you will wake up and realize that the entire "vote" ... "you have a choice"... scam is just that... nothing more then a scam.
The entire system is a big controlled LIE!
Yeah, you have a right to vote alright... vote for who THEY say you can vote for... because THEY own them both.
Btw.... i did not nor have not ever VOTED. I refuse to keep playing the game when i know before hand its rigged and im going to lose either way.

The path may include economic catastrophes brought about by economic illiterates working in concert with economic terrorists in positions of authority.

Please keep your hands and wits inside this reality until you are prepared to exit.

Thank you, and have a pleasant journey.

I run a national payroll opreration - this is all true. All of my tax tables are set to result to these rates.

Also if congress acts sometime in January to extend the cuts - and retros the effective back to 01/01/2013, very few payroll systems will be able to refund the federal tax overwithheld. Fica will be reimbursed, but most companies will tell employees they'll get the overpayment of federal tax back when they file thier taxes in Jan 2014.

Many people are going to be shocked when they get thier first check in 2013.

Good thing I get paid under the table. hiding

I love how our economy is about to collapse. I think it's fitting. We love war, and its gonna bankrupt us. I realize there's lots of other reasons we're in debt, but the biggest contributing factor is our "defense spending." The fact that the federal reserve is robbing us doesn't help either, but nobody wants to hear those conspiracy theories. The sad thing is when the dollar is worthless people will still argue about whether it was the fault of republicans or democrats. I say let it crash.
