get a ladies magazine, and circle some pictures of hairstyles and haircolors that you like, and show these to your wife. tell her the cut she has already is OK, but next time you would like to see her with something like the picture in the magazine, if she doesn't mind. she can take the picture to the salon with her and show it to her stylist.
