IT GETS WORSE: Apple Now Down 6%!!! It's the biggest Apple drop in four years!!! | |
| Luisport (OP) User ID: 29136456 12/05/2012 03:55 PM ![]() Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Apple is now off by 6%, a massive plunge. Zero Hedge says it's the biggest Apple drop in four years. The weird thing is that no one seems to have an answer for why it's happening. Piper analyst Gene Munster ran through some options (margin requirements, misinterpretation of the news, technical problems, concerns about China) but none of them really add up. If you've got any ideas, let us know in the comments. For what it's worth, this is not as bad as it's been for Apple. The stock has been down since September, almost falling under $500. | Luisport (OP) User ID: 29136456 12/05/2012 04:06 PM ![]() Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | AAPL Suffers Biggest Market Cap Loss Ever Submitted by Tyler Durden on 12/05/2012 16:00 -0500 It seems like it was only yesterday when we were praising the miraculous 4 sigma move in AAPL stock, when it soared by nearly $40 in one trading session. It wasn't: it was November 19. Which is why it probably shouldn't be surprising that two short weeks later AAPL stock has just seen its biggest dollar fall in absolute terms in history, down $37 dollars or nearly 7%, its biggest one-day percentage drop since September 2008. Why? Nobody really knows, but when the world's biggest company by market cap trades increasingly like a penny stock, does anyone really care? In absolute terms, AAPL has lost nearly $40 billion in market cap in several hours today, with no real material news except for the occasional weak order hearsay (which one didn't really need considering the US and global consumer is totally tapped out), and various other rumors. One thing is certain: the 240+ hedge funds who owned the stock as of September 30, and which did their best to paint the tape for November, are now at a complete loss what to do to delay what was certainly going to be a redemption avalanche for the second month in a row. Apple is out of ideas and innovation is waning with the passing of Jesus Jobs. The new products are incremental improvements of the old ones, at best and the iPhone 5 is still not even as powerful as the latest Android offerings. The fact that they are flailing around suing everyone in sight is further evidence of their desperation. Fuck them and their cutesy, smug, condescending commercials. If I wasn't forced to use a Mac at work I would not touch an Apple product with a 20-foot pole. |

I think they make decent products but they stifle innovation of anyone else by using restrictive designs. The closer they get to monopolies the harder it is for people to work with their devices. |

Of course this is going to remove a lot of confidence in the stock and the hedge fund redemptions...apple has a long way to go down before it goes up. |

There is a group of people out there that won't buy iPhone etc unless there is a working jailbreak available. The longer it takes for a jailbreak to surface the more people that will be dumping Apple and moving on to the competitions devices. And no it's not about piracy, it's about being able to customize your device and use all the cool tweaks out there. |

When a stock or commodity gets a certainly level of crazyness about it, it becomes a pyramid scheme. A pyramid scheme will eventually collapse when it runs out of new victims. Like housing, as soon as price growth stops its over, then everyone wants out. Apple is super over valued, its future growth is limited. |
