This right here ^^^^^^^ This thread has inspired me to take some pictures as soon as we get some clear skies. I'll take the pictures over a span of a month or so, from different angles. It's interesting for sure.

OP, just curious, did you take the picture inside your home through a window or were you outside when you took it?

And if you take your photos, please do it like this and post your results:

Cover the "Second Sun / Nibiru / Planet X" (not the Sun) completely with your finger.
If you can cover it, it's a real object.
If you can't and it's in front of your finger, it's ... a lens flare.

They are called reflections. Common when you look at something bright, like the Sun.

A friendly correction. Technically, the image is not showing lens flare. Lens flare occurs when the source is not in the field of view. The source is usally just outside the field of view. In some cases if the source is in the field of view, such as the Sun behind a tree or house or something, you can also get lens flare. The main point is that the source is not directly imaged.

The image in question has the Sun near the center of the image - it is imaged. For bright sources you get internal reflections off the lens interfaces and off the CCD itself.

An important point is that cell phone lenses are cheap and do not have anti-reflection coatings like more expensive lenses which prevent, or lessens, such artifacts.

You can also get images like this when taken through a window. You will also get multiple images.
