What the Obama administration fails to grasp is that Syria is not Libya.

Syria has a lot more friends, and any attack on Syria would almost certainly cause a wider Middle East war to erupt.

For Russia and China, Syria is a red line that must not be crossed.

The United States is concerned that Syria may be "cooking up recipes" at multiple sites to arm chemical weapons, a U.S. official said on Tuesday.

The official would not detail more on intelligence developments, but said the United States is concerned about possible preparations at more than one chemical weapons plant around Syria.

Really, you think China is going to risk losing 1.2 trillion dollars that is owed them over Syria, and if China bails you think Russia is going to go forward?

China's not worried about useless paper dollars, why do you think they are mining tons of gold and none of it leaves their country.

I do not believe people understand the possible ramifications of Assad using his chemical weapons.

1. Assad could choose to fire his chemical weapons at Israel. Everyone knows Israel has nuclear weapons even though they have never openly admitted it. The United States has a policy of responding with a nuclear strike if we come under chemical, nuclear, or biological attack. It also can be a preemptive strike to thwart the threat. Whose to say Israel does not have the same? NOBODY truly wants nuclear war heads to start flying around because who knows how far it will escalate. Maybe one is fired? Or possibly 30 or the entire shebang. Israel could respond with a massive ground invasion of Syria possibly sparking a major war, drawing in outside forces including America, Iran, and Egypt.. Morsi needs nothing more than a war with Israel to unite his people again.

2. Rebels seize mobilized chemical weapons and possibly smuggle then into Israel or sale transport them to other terrorist organizations around the globe.

3. Assad fires his arsenal at Turkey, invoking a massive NATO response and the destruction of the Syrian government and Military with in days. Civilians will be killed and ground troops may be needed. Possible response by Iran on Turkey and if they strike Turkey they may as well fire on Israel.

I could go on and on but I believe you get the picture. Chemical weapons do not have to be used to be terrible. They can be stolen and the Sarin gas is very corrosive, it will eat through the shells containing them so they must be used with in 60 days or they will escape anyways. This going to end in a massive military operation or a regional war.
