Let's see what you cannot understand.
In the beginning was the Word...
Go ahead, tell me a story about how YOU think it all began. I guarantee you cannot tell the story without beginning with a Word.
And the Word was with God...
What is the word which names the thing that is before the word which names it?
Shhhh...
That is what is meant by God. That spirit of life within you from which ALL your words come.
And the Word was God.
Of course the Word is God. Look at the existence all around you. It is what it is without words. Without words, it would have no meaning. Without words, you would be alone.
So from within comes WORDS! And the words give shape and form to your reality from the Abyss within you.
The WORD IS GOD.

The meanings are generic, not specific as in the original language. Then there are those things that lose something in the translation........  The language spoken during the time of Jesus was Aramaic. It DOES NOT translate into English or other languages easily at all. Many Aramaic words have no English translation.
