Florida here.. Pinellas area.. I was just post asking if anyone heard the loud rumble about 20-30 min ago.. then i saw this thread in the pins.

Thing is I used to hear it quite often around 3 am for a while every or every other night, but never this early, anyone else hear this?
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 23754089

I actually live in the Pinellas area also, but heard nothing I did hear booms a few months ago, tho the problem with that is the fact we live so close to MacDill Air Force Base, also
there's always constant military training in the gulf not to mention the constant helicopter training they do over the interstates and downtown areas.

TLDR; AFB were probably doing training exercises. :P

I'm getting booms and rumbles right now, here in S/E Michigan near Toledo, Ohio.

There is an ANG F-16 squadron nearby, and the rumbles are usually from them, but I'm hearing (and feeling) noises that sound more like a train (repetitive), or booms that I would describe as like a large door being slammed (but more bass).

"Loud Booms" might be all sorts of things, from trucks and planes to atmospheric and geological effects.

I can definitely see good sense in avoiding premature conclusions. Face the fact, folks: these MIGHT NOT be secret UFO tunnels, military experiments, the Earth breaking apart, or echoes from our tax dollars finally hitting the bottom of the hole.

It's just plain stupid to say that these things don't exist and that people are making them up - for the same reason: you have no real evidence to think that. I haven't heard them myself, but weird things happen all the time, and my sanity does not depend on these booms being fiction.

The average American doesn't know the name of his own state senators and can barely tell the difference between a bluebird and a bluejay. You expect them to all write in reports about every loud boom? Yeah right. people have lives, and simply do not care about some random loud noise.

I can guarantee you the majority of people here, even after numerous "news" stories about these booms, have not the slightest idea that anyone else has ever heard such a thing.

I hate to break it to you, but the single "explosions" with no explanations are very real and SCARY. I have logged several of these incidents with 9-11 in the past two years here in NW Georgia.

You will not be so "chill" and or dismissive when it sounds like an artillery shell just landed at your front door step if and when it happens.
 Quoting: skeeter 29121239

If it was true, everyone would hear it, not only a few selected people.

It's like with ghosts, it only happens to believers, don't it?
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 28604046

I don't believe everyone would hear it because how many people are actually tuned into life in general? Most people are so focused on what they are doing that they don't pay attention. How many people actually pay attention to their surroundings? TV's, music players, computers... all divert attention so people are not paying attention to the background noise. A giant boom may grab most people attention for a moment but that will be all the focus it gets.

(I hope that makes sense)
 Quoting: Corn Dog

Sure, and those people who hear it but doesn't care, doesn't care because they probably know what it is. I know that i would shit my pants if i sat watching TV and all of a sudden a loud boom was heard, i react to every sound. Even if my stupid drunk neighbour falls to the ground (which happens) i react and get spooked for a minute. I don't call the cops in panic.

New Mexico,

Saw a posting from last weekend from folks in El Dorado about hearing loud booms.

Yesterday, or the day before, I heard a loud boom...was running a power tool and turned it off just as I heard the sound so did notbump get to hear the whole sequence. Later, back at the house friend Rob described the sound as coming from underground in a long rolling rumble after the intial loud sonic boom like sound.

Good thread,

I only experienced this phenomenon once. It was earlier in the summer this year by Phoenix, AZ. I was outside walking around at night at the office and I felt a very low sub bass type sound that just went right through me. Made me physically uncomfortable. There is nothing around us but desert. I couldn't tell where it came from (up or down) - it just happened.

Look out, i will get together with my friends in Sweden and tell them all to call in around a certain time and talk about these "loud booms!" and i bet my nutsack that the local news will cover it.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 28604046

You people in Sweden don't have anything better to do than to spend your time trying to generate some fuzz about an imaginary event? For what end should you do that? Perhaps it's because of your higher standard of living, but at least we here in the east are way too busy with more important and/or interesting and/or enjoyable things - anything from jerking off to coming up with something new and cool, that I can't imagine anyone would have the motivation, time and energy to spend on spinning hoaxes like this for no apparent reason. You may think there are such people all over the place, I've been in the tin foil scene since 2008 and have never met one such case.

Now come on, these booms and the whole deal have already broken through in main stream media! Not the big media and nobody seems to be noticing the obvious implications of everything that's going on, but blabbering about "not believing this" is just pure stupidity - stupidity in it's purest form, meaning the conscious decision to keep one's eyes closed until "the others" say it's ok to update your view of the world and things happening in it.

Don't get me wrong - I understand! I'm just sick and tired of so many playing around when it's possible something a) extremely significant and b) extremely tragic may be taking place. This is way more important than you and may yet effect you directly, so I suggest taking it and others participating in this discussion slightly more seriously and with due respect. Or, expect to get direct feedback. It's the nature of this board; respect is earned through respect, treating others or issues touching their lives with disrespect will result in something like my little rant here. You're free to have as you wish, and receive different reactions according to the decisions you make. No good or bad here, but certainly strong opinions and different points of view.

I live in the Ozarks in Arkansas. I have been hearing this rumbeling for the past 3 days. It sounds like thunder from miles away. I was thinking that it was fracking from the region south of us. Not the case, they have been fracking now for the past 4-5 years and never heard this before. Very interesting and puzzling at the same time. I have several friends that have heard this as well. its been the latest talk in the office.
 Quoting: Rajun Cajun

I'm In Ozark AR and it's not noticeable today, but I think it was Monday that was really bad. Just continous booms all day long, one right after another. I laid it off to either a nearby quarry (?) or bombing runs or mortar fire on camp Chaffee. I can feel the ground shaking right now, but no booms. There is a gas well about 400 feet away from me, but I don't know if that is what makes the ground quiver.
I've been hearing the booms, occasionally, since I moved here about 2 years ago. I'm about a mile from where those dead fish were found in the Arkansas river about a year ago.

I'm sorry, but the above statement does not make sense to me. Am I the only one that feels that? WTF?

And believe it or not, ghosts supposedly tend to show themsleves more to skeptics and disbelievers than believers.

But that is beside the point in this thread anyway.

Anyway,

What you just said does not make sense.

man, i figured Swedes would grasp English grammar because of their top notch schooling, but after witnessing this with my own eyes, I can conclude with certainty that:

a) it's just fo make a nothing country feel better about itself or

b) the dumbest person in Sweden propaganda is on glp making wagers he doesn't have the coin-purse to cover

seriously, you blanket discount dozens of news stations for reporting sounds heard and called in by hundreds of unrelated people across the country because of a mass-hysteria effecting "all the mentally ills" that occurred BEFORE the broadcast

I'm going with b

As i said before, these sites spread fear and kills people indirectly and i will do my part to make sure that someone, who doesn't know better and actually believes in all this bullshit, may read my posts and see that there's nothing to be afraid of.

And the swedish stereotypes is pretty funny, and low, but i guess that's the only thing you "stupid americans" can do when being faced with real facts.

Why should you be upset?

OF course the woman was kidding. Gnomes don't exist. Of course.

I was simply trying to find a reasonable explanation for this.

man, i figured Swedes would grasp English grammar because of their top notch schooling, but after witnessing this with my own eyes, I can conclude with certainty that:

a) it's just fo make a nothing country feel better about itself or

b) the dumbest person in Sweden propaganda is on glp making wagers he doesn't have the coin-purse to cover

seriously, you blanket discount dozens of news stations for reporting sounds heard and called in by hundreds of unrelated people across the country because of a mass-hysteria effecting "all the mentally ills" that occurred BEFORE the broadcast

I'm going with b

The world won't end. Get over it.

Almost certainly not.........................but there is a possibility SOMETHING will happen on Dec. 21------if you choose not to believe that, that is understandable. Your thing. Just don't come here mocking those "gullible, idiotic" souls (so to speak) who come here and believe otherwise, ok, Swede? It IS a conspiracy site, after all.

the booming/rumbling I heard was coming from the sky and it definitely wasn't thunder or planes

I've heard the same down here in southwest florida.
My husband and i were laying in bed reading and we both just looked at each and and said "what in the hell was that"? Just too strange.

the rumbling is kind of like a vibrating but not an earthquake.

Just like the boom that precedes it is not thunder.

I watched this documentary:

[link to movies.netflix.com (secure)]

I was fascinated. However, the entire time I was watching, I was wondering just what that digging, etc. must've sounded like to the general population. I'm sure it wasn't any surprise or hidden project to them, it's just that it's the only thing that I can think of that could relate to the sounds people are hearing today.

After all, they seem to have the text for the third reich. I mean, for example, look how the Reichstag building - oops I meant twin towers, was destroyed.

It's an interesting video anyway if you can or want to watch it.

This is just pure BS. If these loud booms actually existed and people who wasn't mentally ill actually heard them there would be proof. There's none.

As always one retard "hears" something, another one reads about this other dude hearing this sound that doesn't exist and hears it aswell.

If there was loud booms all over the US, everyone should hear it, not only a maximum of five anonymous douchebags in cahoots.

I don't buy it. It's pretty easy to call into the cops or news and tell them that you heard these "loud booms" with no proof and they will publish it. Called sensational journalism.

So, bsflag

cops, entire cities and news stations all made this up, yeah okay.
