That is interesting and you might be right. We have no proof either way. In my ideal world, I follow the ideas of fictional or not, John Titor. I was around when he was here and read his posts as they happened, whether he was an author, a smart prankster or even a time traveller. The things he did say about multiple timelines made total sense to me though. You can go back to a certain point in time but time splinters into an infinite number of realities at any point in time moving forward. That decision you made to have the burrito for lunch today creates a new timeline with a different possibility tomorrow (or even tonight depending on what was in the burrito). I think it is possible to travel back in time but it is for the most part meaningless because it is not your timeline. What John was trying to say was that the general big themes occur in many timelines and effect the future as a whole, such as wars, cataclysms, etc.

The easiest way to dissuade the masses is to hype an event, and when the event fails to happen, then they'll feel foolish. Their investment in preparing supplies will come to an anti-climactic end. Since we're taught to only have positive outcomes, and their preparedness "seems" to have produced naught, then they'll decide not to ever be "fooled" by this kind of hysteria.

I hate this kind of hype. It ruins basic preparedness.

Then all the pundits will mock them. They'll be a litany of finger-pointing. We'll have to listen to it for a year or so.

There's tons of people who are balanced and simply stock up and buy things on sale and rotate them. They learn life skills that their ancestors passed along to make themselves have more autonomy. They learned to be frugal.

Real preparedness is about skills, supply, and seed. It's about preserving wealth. It's not fear-based. It's a way of returning to the Garden of Eden.

If one prepares this way, to locate wild herbs to use as an alternative to prescription medicine, learns basic first aid to help an injured person, learns to hunt to put meat on the table, grows crops to feel like a steward of the Earth, then that person will become a more fully actualized human being.

If one prepares by purchasing a lot of guns and ammunition, and not investing just as much in other tools like shovels, axes, and fishing rods, then they've lost the Way.

Of course, it's fairly easy to buy a bugout bag, an expensive knife, a month of food, and suddenly you're prepared. How laughable! But this is where a lot of preparedness people will fit in. It didn't take much effort, and then they'll be sadly disappointed, and will move on to the next thing.

There's always another form of doom, and someone else will come along, like an endless chain of relay runners.

How I wish that some of them would get energized by the beauty of the Earth and see humanity's role within it. Real preparedness is preparing for a doom event. It's learning skills for everyday life....the abundant life. When doom passes, then there should be a wave of relief and thankful hearts brimming with joy. It means more time to love and be loved.
