I would have loved to stay home with my kids when they were younger, had to work through all 4 pregnancies as well. But there's no way we would have made it on my husbands paycheck alone. He would work days, me nights, or vice versa.

I was a latchkey kid growing up, I would have loved it if my mom was home for me after school but she had to work and did the best she could.

I think a lot of mom's work out of need of income, not all of course. I see a lot of kids with nannies, not sure I would want someone else raising my kids and missing all of the milestones.
