I think if you are right then you should win the Noble Piece Prize! But, I don't understand anything you say. Quoting: Smoky mountain girl Guess what? Weasel (Wenzel??? cause he loves Denzel Washington) got the preacher's whore daughter pregnant and they is going to have a limper baby on account of Wenzel missing big toe, that's what the pictures show. I'm not living their anymore. Sooooo, I was wondering if you got a girlfriend? Your so smart!! Astro babies...! (just kidding) Do you have all your toes? It's ok if you don't. LOL! Didn't expect to see you here. Sorry to hear about Wenzel. I do have a girlfriend as well as all my toes. All Well can't blame a girl for trying. But, I bet my dolly partons are bigger than herssssssss.... |
| Weasel_Turbine User ID: 14143765 12/06/2012 03:46 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | We were fucked a long time ago. I can't believe how many people have not paided one bit of attention to anything around here. I guess all the silly Suntards and Moontards were not so silly. Thread after thread about the sun being in places in people yards and gardens that it hadn't before. Hundreds of those threads. Sundials came up in those threads tons of times. Everybody being ridiculed by the Gang Banger Astronomy guys around here. Insulted. Called Liers. The sheep that just post without reading the information in the threads. Quick Quick and fast fast to post their dribble. Poetic Justice. This is just the tip of the Iceberg. Its just starting and Earths rotational axis and Wobble are going to expand and get worse as we go along here. The pictures going up ALL OVER FROM EVERYWHERE about THE OTHER CELESTIAL BODY IN THE NEIBORHOOD. By December 21.2012 we are all going to SEE and KNOW. Wait and see. and when nothing happens by that date what is the new doomsday date you'll shift to instead of just admitting you're wrong? If you have to insist that you've won an Internet argument, you've probably lost badly. - Danth's Law |
| Anonymous Coward User ID: 27972246 12/06/2012 03:46 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Well, obviously this is an error because a 6 arcmin difference @ a distance of 425 light years would be a, about, 4.5 light years "jump". That would be impossible of course, except if someone could teleport all of the Polaris system! Even Scotty couldn't do that, LOL. The proper motion of Polaris is very small Quoting: Anonymous Coward 29198641 This past week either in Space.Com or in NASA websites, or perhaps it was Physics.Org, the statement was given that the "standard" distance of Polaris was discovered to be off by a considerable factor. Something in teh 3xx.00 range of light years. I suppose one could find it if they bothered. |
| Weasel_Turbine User ID: 14143765 12/06/2012 03:48 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | SO MUCH FOR ALL THOSE ASTRONOMY SITES AND THE DATA THEY PROVIDE. bET THEIR NOT SHOWING THIS. Of course they are not. They show everything as normal. Make the changes and still say shit is normal. Update more shit as normal. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 22335519 Anybody using their data to prove or unprove anything is stupid. Raw data thats uncontaminated is the only way to know for sure whats up. Anybody that trusts any of those sites who's data is provide by the Navy/Government is a sheep. All the sites. ALL OF THEM are given the information from the GOVERNMENT. ITS TRUE. GO CHECK IT OUT YOURSELF. ITS TRUE. they're not showing this because it is most likely a mistake. If it your meassurments were correct, would telescopes with goto still function properly? If not, wouldnt thousands of astronomers have noticed this by now and someone would have posted it online somewhere? Thanks |
| Weasel_Turbine User ID: 14143765 12/06/2012 03:49 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Astro is doing it the right way. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1015670 He has seen an anomoly. He is explaining how he saw it. He has explained how people with similar equipment can duplicate his measurement. He is now working on confirming the measurement with equipment designed to do so. These are steps that the usual jump-to-conclusions Suntards and Moontards never take themselves. And if he finds that the anomoly was due to the equipment he was using, and that there isn't really an anomoly at all, they will all merely start yelling 'shill' once again. You get it. Thank you! At least someone gets it. there had to be at least one right? If you have to insist that you've won an Internet argument, you've probably lost badly. - Danth's Law |
| Anonymous Coward User ID: 29217019 12/06/2012 03:50 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Ok.....then, if it is an error, it is an error. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 29217019 However, if his instruments prove to be alright and it is an anomaly, THEN what? Can we panic then? Or wait until we consult Palomar to have them say "Gee wiz, that's strange!!! Interesting anomaly!!! Nothing to see here folks!!." You may trust what the PTB tell you, but many here do not. Sorry if that upsets you. Why don't you list the astronomers and observatories which are part of the "PTB"? Then we can check with any of the tens of thousands of other ones, K? Palomar, NASA................................. That's it? Palomar and NASA? Well, that leaves 99.99% of the worlds astronomers available for anyone to contact about the "anomalies" they claim to see in the sky. GO for it! That's SOME of the examples......... Basically you're saying "Big Dog NASA is in on it but the rest of the smaller observatories are not, so it is crap!" Nice dodge. |

Yeah, I'll say the measurements, as per the article(who knows what to believe anymore from Never A Straight Answer or other Gooberment & Gobberment funded, agencies), were stated, not to be slightly off but about 25% off. That is a HUGE discrepancy! |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 29220575 If it your meassurments were correct, would telescopes with goto still function properly? If not, wouldnt thousands of astronomers have noticed this by now and someone would have posted it online somewhere? Thanks It depends. As long as you had recently done an alignment or synced on a star's position, it would work for a while because the stars are all still in the same place relative to each other. It wouldn't track perfectly though, there would be a minimum of 6 arcminutes difference between where the telescope's computer expects the NCP to be relative to the stars and where it actually is. Over time this would result in drift between where the stars actually are and where the computer expects them to be, the same as if you put a "dumb" telescope with a mechanical clockdrive in a polar alignment that was 6 arcminutes off. By the end of the night you could expect to see a problem in GOTO functionality unless you occasionally re-synced it. But yeah, I would expect to see an amateur astronomer uproar pretty quickly if this were real, so either it just happened and I got lucky to be the first to post about it, or it's an error. I think it's pretty obvious which is more likely, but this is how we handle things in science with rigorous checking and re-checking. ![]() |
