I understand weather & have studied it since i was 8 years old i'm now 28 & if the pressure charts are correct for next week the whole eastern side of the uk will be under thick snow. Depths of 20cm locally at low levels & 60cm at higher levels are quite possible. The reason for this is, when the winds come from the near continent at this time of year they are as cold as -20 & as the winds travel over the north sea they pick up lots of moisture then dump all of its moisture on land, in this case the east coast. There's probably going to be a low pressure system sitting out into the north sea by next wednesday & if it does, expect a severe snow storm to develop with catastrophic results. you have been warned!!!!!!!!! stay safe & please keep watching the weather forecast over the coming weekend. It may have already started, users on netweather in Suffolk and Norfolk (East, for the Americans) are reporting HEAVY, SUSTAINED, SETTLED SNOW again, this was not forecast,it was only meant to be brief wintry mix showers. |

OBVIOUSLY THE MEDIA CAN'T READ WEATHER CHARTS. Don't panic folks it will just be a normal working week. |

Quoting: ayr phorce yuan I know this tip is a terrible waste of water, but it is essential for us to maintain a supply of water, so I have a short hose on the tap at the end of the line and run the water in the field, but at the extreme temp's that we are expecting then I would have to run it full bore in order to stop the line freezing. Hope you're not on a meter... Unfortunately I am, arghhhhh. It would however be far more expensive for me to have to buy in bottled water for 15 horses lol. Same here too, Worried about our two horses if we get a combination of cold AND high winds. Snow is not so much of an issue; we have a V8 Jeep, tried and tested in the German Alps. 2 feet of snow is just a minor inconvenience.. Indeed, it's going to be a tough winter, good luck ;) If you need any equine advice seek me out here, I would be happy to help, could start an equine thread or something so we can keep track.
