I've been following this since the beginning and my sympathy and prayers go out to you all.
How horrible to be living under these conditions with no end in sight. I would hate to lose my homeland.

If you have not forwarded this on to Erin Brokovich, I suggest you do as it gives so much information and is very easy to understand from a humanistic point.
Can you update us on what ishapppening with her office? Is she very much involved?
I hope that this land and the people of it receive some sort of relief and justice.

I have been following this situation for a while and I feel terrible for the people living in the midst of it. If this thing blows, it will be a catastrophe.

Thanks for the update on Bayou Corne. I've been wondering what was going on there.
I'm really sorry to hear it's still as bad as ever for the residents there.
For your own health and well being, I hope you find a way to leave there, and find a healthier place to live.

Frist of all, I would never live in a place named Bayou Corne.. Second, if I was living there I would pack up all my stuff and freaking move to Texas or some other state. Them people are in hella danger and just need to cut their losses and move. IMO

Even considering how difficult that may be to many, especially those with no extra resources for anything, I must say I agree. It's not looking good at all over there, all this crap moving below the surface and pretty much everything appearing to fall apart. Can't see how that could be "fixed" now or ever, and as much as I dislike expecting any kind of doom, this one's certainly containing all the necessary potential to become one hell of a boom.

Texas Brine: Sinkhole gas flow diminishing?

Where the gas going?

The gas just stopped?

Boudreaux and Texas Brine officials have noted that the rate of gas flow from vent wells has declined since flaring began.

Sonny Cranch, spokesman for Houston-based Texas Brine, said there is an indication the gas flow is diminishing but noted, as Boudreaux did, that water in the vent wells or other restrictions might be limiting the flow.

However, the reduced vent well flow may not necessarily reflect a reduction of gas volume in the aquifer, he cautioned.

“It could be a diminishing amount of natural gas, but it also could be the restricted flow issue,” Cranch said.

The Department of Health & Hospitals (DHH) and the Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) along with parish officials have scheduled a briefing for Bayou Corne residents specific to health concerns. Information relative to updates of the sinkhole situation will NOT be presented. The meeting will be focused on concerns brought up by residents to DHH & DEQ in past briefings. The briefing will take place at the Assumption Community Center on Thursday, December 13, 2012 at 6:00 p.m.

I live in Delaware. Not one person I've mentioned this to has even heard about it. Not one! Last week my husband and I were having a drink at a local pub and conversing with about 10 people (quaint bar). I brought it up and they were shocked by the situation AND that the media isn't covering it.

I guess Kate Middleton's morning sickness is more important!?

You wouldn't believe how many people in southern Louisiana , that hasn't heard the sinkhole situation as well. I try to warn and tell folks but if they don't see information on the news then they refuse to put any concern! My husband is one if them and was ready to commit me to a mental institution! So frustrating on my part! He wanted to pay attention when " blast" noises started a few nights ago, thank god! If you could imagine a huge thunder that shakes your walls ( kinda explains it) woke our entire family! We're on the left side of Mississippi River & the basin swamp area. Would it be impossible to find salt dome maps? I think st Martin (upper & lower) are all sitting on salt domes. Just a thought! Can these domes collapse?

I DON'T think anything is going to happen with that situation. Much ado about nothing. Let's see, I have heard folks prophecy that there would be a giant methane explosion that would destroy K's of sq. miles, the area would eventually cause the Earth to be so jacked up that it would trigger eq's and set off the New Madrid, Yellowstone, etc ad nauseum...I will tell you what, there are THOUSANDS of other sinkholes worldwide. No joke, look them up, there is actually great scientific documentaries on Nat Geo and other reputable sources on the net. Nowhere ever, has a sinkhole caused any of the above mentioned calamities and predictions...correct me if I am wrong.
