But if other rich people want to donate to their favorite govt tax entity ... go right ahead. There's always a sucker for a corporate sales pitch lurking somewhere. More jobs for the poor being the big one right now. Quoting: Mr. Toppit Don't forget. G.E. and starbucks fund the MSM outlet called MSNBC. Zbigniew Brzezinski has a show called "Morning Joe" which advertises itself as "A wake up call for movers and shakers" |

Never mind 'agreeing' they should be paying the BACK tax they have SWINDLED by setting profits gained in one country against losses in another. It should be 'if they don't have to pay, I certainly shouldn't.' |
Chrit User ID: 27088294 United States 12/06/2012 02:13 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | What Starbucks does is takes profit and rolls it back in to stock options they give every single employee for free. These stock options take 5 years to vest. This money is not counted as profit and not taxed as payroll either because if the employee quits before the vestment date the option is reabsorbed. If they employee does cash the option in after 5 years they have to pay taxes on it at that point. basically Starbucks has found a way to keep profit and reinvest it to bump their own stock prices and if the employee quits then that is more stock that the company is now in control of, this is how Starbucks keeps there stocks artificially high. This is why they HAVE to keep opening more stores at any cost. If you work at Starbucks for ten years you’re going to walk away with 15k + in stocks as a gift and leave another 15k unvested in the company’s pocket. The Expert also said that small businesses, which are also Employers, should take an example here and make lucid decisions around profitability and tax donations. Kris Engskov went further and said, “Yes, I am a spokesperson for Starbucks, but why would I Manipulate the truth around Starbuck’s balance sheet….Do munchkins lie? …With those funny ears and wide innocent eyes? NO! he said…coffee and social responsibility can mix like coffee and milky vegetable oil, but only after 2012.” Last Edited by Lips Of Lucifer on 12/06/2012 02:20 PM |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 21300769 You think jobless America can still pay $5-$7 for a cup in these tough times? Think again McDonalds wins hands down for their $2 identical mcafee product! So having ANOTHER 160,000 jobs lost is a good idea to you? Is anyone FORCING you to buy their coffee??? :crayon: No I don't buy it but so many I know DO and even with no money for food I know at least 10 people who "can't live without it" It's like crack to them. They will even go without lunch or dinner to have if instead. Starbucks NEEDS to bring their prices down to remain competitive but all I see them doing is driving them up! I like Scooters better..but that is just me..but really what business is it of yours if these folks choose Starbucks over dinner? Honestly it really is their choice to make. |

They are not there to create a profit, and provide jobs for people, who are willing to work? It's not $5 for a Starbux espresso. I can get a double or even triple for $2 or 2.50. If you want one of those fancy drinks with whipped cream, syrups, etc. that can be expensive. But I just drink straight espresso with some sugar. Add half and half if I want to simulate a cappuccino. Is Mickey D's cheaper than that? |

If the employee leaves before vesting and the stock goes back to the company, I would think the company would have to recognize that income at that point, and it would be taxable. But that isn't happening much because the employees aren't leaving. So they are super employers, we should thank them rather than shit on them! |
