Do you buy American made products?
I was watching ABC world news last night and they were showing these 'Made in America' products.

Would you buy mostly Made in America if the prices were comparable?

Last night they talked about an iPhone case company, "Bodacious Cases".

Me personally, I would buy only American Made if I could...

Re: Do you buy American made products?
Yes, whenever I can find them. My sister wanted a spice rack for Christmas this year.

I found out that Kamenstein makes spice racks here in the U.S. The price was comparable to the Chinese junk, so I bought one of those for her.

I'm so sick of buying items that break before you can even get them out of the package!

Yea, like toys from the dollar store... Nothing upsets a kid more than a junk ass toy that looks cool and as soon as you start taking it out of the packaging it breaks.

I have been advocating buy American since the 2008 debacle. It is often hard to find US products immediately but one can Google the subject and I believe that they have extensive lists. The Supermarkets here are required to list where certain products come from on the goods in store. Check the labels in clothing or ASK the sales person to find out where the product originates. A small local store in our town is TRYING to sell only US produced clothing and advertising as such.

Yea, before I bought my sawmill - I had it down to a Canadian made vs Amish made.

I went with the Amish made because the canadian company had it built in china. It was much cheaper than the amish made one, but the one made here was so much better quality.

I try to buy american when i can. my favorite brand of jeans, 'miss me jeans" used to be made in america, now the label says 'designed in america' and 'made in china'

its a really hard thing to try to find american made clothes that are quality, you wind up paying a lot. but the well made stuff lasts longer, so i never mind paying. i would never buy cheap clothes. ever.

Me too! But I consider this as well when making purchasing decisions.

USA is the biggest customer to Canadian goods so I feel it benefits us to support them. It's a win, win for both of our countries.

Activision who made the game is owned by a French company, it's the free market system, I don't think you will ever get back to the days of 100% made in USA,UK, ect...

Re: Do you buy American made products?
I'm a patriotic America who would love it if our country was more self reliant. I would love it if we manufactured more here so we wouldn't have to import so much. But the fact is that we live in an age where the global economy dictates markets. Profits drive companies over seas, for cheaper labor.

Capitalism is great. But only upto a point. When we start putting profits ahead of morals then it becomes a very slippery slope.

The "aliens" movie series or "avatar" or any number of movies based on the future all show corporations run everything. Fact is that's how things are run today too. It's just better hidden.

Education is not something that should be for profit, which is why we have a public school system. It's not perfect and needs some reforms but the basic idea is that an education should be available to everyone. Not just those who can afford it.

Healthcare should be treated the same way. The idea that you can only see a doctor if have insurance (money) is insane.

My gf wanted to buy a dodge, and I told her she shouldn't. Not because I don't want to buy domestic. But because the quality just isn't the same as some of the imports. She bought a charger anyway, and ever since she has had problem after problem.

Corporations need to stop sitting on their record profits and start paying workers better, invest in better quality products. And obviously build more here in the us.

Sorry for my ramble
