My son just got a mercury filling!!!!!

I had the same and my iq is about 135 so not bad.

The problem is how you remove those fillings . When done un-safe and you consume it , you ingest to much those and your body cant handle it safely and you are fucked.

Better normal filling then mercury , but when you are stuck with one remember to remove it safely

Dentists still use the silver fillings, not sure if there is mercury in it yet. They last longer than the new white stuff.

Of course partially true. Fillings are not dangerous as much as in tooth.

Do not get any of them digested or you will have serious health problems, mercury is poison that take years to get rid out of body , and only if body is kept fresh and strong !!!

uhm...this is really wierd...they don't use mercury anymore, it's been porcelin for me for as long as i can remember. No need to go to a 'natural' dentist (although I totally support the cause)...any dentist in the 21st century doesn't use mercury as far as I've ever known...

Mercury found in dental amalgam fillings has been an issue within the dental community and beyond for many years. These fillings, used since the American Civil War, contain an estimated 50 percent mercury. Whenever friction meets these fillings, toxic mercury gases are emitted. This means that with each chew and dental drill comes an emission of mercury gases, leading to numerous health problems. While nearly half of dentists have stopped using amalgam fillings due to health dangers, the Food and Drug Administration has yet to act on these issues.

In December 2010, the Food and Drug Administration convened its second scientific advisory panel on dental amalgams. Scientists yet again told the FDA that amalgam use in children, pregnant women, and hypersensitive adults must come to a halt. The toxic vapors emitted are harmful to everyone, but these groups of individuals especially suffer.

Dr. Kotagal said there is “no place for mercury in children,” Dr. Ismail said “children less than 6 years of age, I would restrict it significantly,” Dr. Thompson said “definitely not in pregnant women and definitely not in those below 6 years of age,” Dr. Fleming said we need contraindications for pregnant women, and Dr. Burbacher said, “why put amalgams in children if we know they’re going to live with that for the rest of their lives? And we don’t know what that’s going to do.”

...so there may be dentists out there that follow this...but if they do their in the dark ages...nuff said.

this is the most real doom i have read on this site, albeit doom for one.

get it out. ask the dentist what the hell they were thinking and why they didnt consult you first as to choices. then make him replace it free. do it now. the fresher they are the more they outgas.

im jumping in before ive finished reading, OP/Jilly, what you need is whats called a holistic dentist.
They dont use Mercury or fluoride treatments as part of their ethical standards.
Most holistic dentists also specialise in removal(safely)of mercury/amalgum and help with the chelation of heavy metals from the body after removal.

heres a few sites, you may have a hard time finding one close to you depending on where you are, but maybe if you contact one of these than can point you to a good educated dentist wholl be happy to help replace it with something safer.
look for"holistic" dentists not just any dentist.

Ya! The dentist is an IDIOT! we both know what the point of the thread is...jeez.

Get it taken out as soon as possible, by a reputable dentist who does amalgam removal, with a dental dam and oxygen mask. The stuff is horrible. Happened to my son too, and effected him for a long time.

Give him powdered charcoal everyday in water, have him swish it around his mouth for 30 seconds too, to absord the mercury and pull it from his blood stream.

You might even want to consider Chelation to get the rest out. But Clay and Charcoal are also good options. Chelation is a bit strong.

You can also pursue damages from the dentist, as amalgam fillings are highly toxic and you didn't approve them going in his mouth.

I had mercury fillings as a kid and it led to a huge schlong.

This is what you get for just sitting back and letting a "doctor" treat your kid.
