50 Power Line Poles Catch Fire so Far in Central Texas..Fog and Drought Blamed??
Authorities tell us a combination of no rain and fog build-up may have caused the tops of the utility poles to catch on fire.

Re: 50 Power Line Poles Catch Fire so Far in Central Texas..Fog and Drought Blamed??
"A Department of Public Safety communications officer said power poles in Hill, Falls, Bell, Williamson and McLennan counties mysteriously began bursting into flames at about 4 a.m. Thursday.

He said the fires that had been reported were burning at the tops of the poles, some involving transformers.

Various power company representatives had been dispatched to survey the damage and several fire departments were sent to douse the flames.

One power company technician told a News 10 reporter near McGregor that the fires likely were caused by a build up of dust on transformers that shorted out due to low-lying fog."

If the insulators had a build up of dirt because of no rain then the fog would wet the dirt causing a flashover on the insulators to ground. This would cause the fires.

Re: 50 Power Line Poles Catch Fire so Far in Central Texas..Fog and Drought Blamed??
I live in N. Texas and around 5:40 this morning I was awoken by a jolt of electricity running through my body. I felt as if somebody had touched me with a defibrilator. I have a spinal cord stimulator in my back. The battery is very strong and is turned off and on by a strong magnet. At the very same time my husband said the lights in the bathroom (where he was getting ready for work) dimmed and flickerd and he thought to electric was going to go out. I have a call in to my doctor to get this stimulator taken out, because I do not want something in my back that can be affected by surges of electric.

Something strange is happening.

exactly, I personally witnessed one of these flashovers a year ago. I called the power company and they cleaned the insulators and the arching stopped.
