Really they can't handle anything outside of their very narrow bubble, so why should I be disruptive and show them more when instead I can be polite and just be a reflection of the sides of themselves and their limited view that they are comfortable with? |

I've just always found that honesty is what strengthens relationships, so the concept of trying to portray myself as something I'm not seems counterproductive in respect to forming long-term relationships. I'm kind of new to the internet too, so that brings a whole new level of insanity into the mix. |

Jesus is a good example..and look what they did to him. Our beliefs of who we are is all we have. if you can get to the point where you dont care what others think you have found yourself and will be totally content. I am so guilty of this and it harms my life alot. I know it's wrong, yet still do it. an example; I do stand up comedy for a hobby and my humor goes against what I see on the amatuer circuit that goes over well which is blue material. I've got alot of blue material that i could get a better response but its not as funny and smart to me. My stuff is more eclectic and cerebral. I would feel I was dumbing it down, just to please others. I know in my heart my stuff is funny as some get it,but not the majority. with the right crowd..I kill. Im sticking to my guns and since i only do this for a hobby its easier. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 7058809 " Who and what " you are as a person are always changing, but what I am talking about is when people pretend to be somebody or something they aren't, manufacturing a personality on the internet for example. I know we all have to wear different hats at times, but where do you draw the line ? |

Quoting: ArunaLuna Mostly for reasons of entertainment for most...people follow what interests them and in exploring interests you sometimes have to step out of your "personality box" to try new things. I can understand that, when I was a kid I was very into theater/drama/stage makeup, even did mime school for a bit. It does take all types to make the world what it is, I personally have to draw the line where it comes to making my decisions on how to live. |
