I just thought I would post here because I experienced a phenomenon similar to this affecting the Pacific Northwest. Power went out all over Oregon and Washington - I saw a transformer blow, or what I believe to be. Followed by darkness. On my phone I looked up pge's website only to notice the power was out in over 20 places at once. I called the company to confirm this and they did. Stating that the outages were caused by rain! It rains ALL the time here and never have so many gone up like that at once! The weather was calm, just your average rain. There was a news clip which I hope I can find because at that time it felt very significant and was a very eerie experiences.
