Mega waves with something nasty like a crack in the Pacific Basin near Australia. Would that be from an asteroid impact in that region? The truth is incontrovertible. Malice may attack it, ignorance may deride it, but in the end, there it is. Winston Churchill Daily Updates Thread: ASS IS IN THE WRINGER - Rolling Updates from 11/16/20 to present (Page 235) |
Burt Gummer User ID: 7702124 United States 12/06/2012 09:04 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | OurAmazingPlanet Quoting: Rain-Man updated 1 hour 34 minutes ago SAN FRANCISCO — It's almost unimaginable: a tsunami more than 1,000 feet (300 meters) high bearing down on the island of Hawaii. But scientists have new evidence of these monster waves, called megatsunamis, doing just that. Unlike tsunamis from earthquakes, the Hawaiian tsunamis strike when the island chain's massive volcanoes collapse in humongous landslides. This happens about every 100,000 years, and is linked to climate change, said Gary McMurtry, a professor at the University of Hawaii in Honolulu. The giant landslides seem to happen during periods of rising sea levels, when the climate is also warmer and wetter, Hildenbrand told OurAmazingPlanet. Researchers speculate that the change from lower sea level to higher may destabilize a volcanic island's flanks, and heavier rains could soak its steep slopes, helping trigger landslides. You can be sure the west coast will get their share of that wave. It depends greatly on the speed of the break, if it slowly breaks off nobody would notice a thing based on the slope of its decent. |

Which is not that special I guess. Had I not been drinking and fighting with my boyfriend, the thread title alone would've done the trick. |

Quoting: DonHeau Who would ever have thought that 1000-foot water would be dangerous to anyone anywhere. Amazing geniuses at work here. Seriously, this is so dumb i'm getting paranoid. "Is this a secret code of some kind? A warning to someone"? Why would they print something like this? Why? WHY DAMMIT I WAN'T TO KNOW!!!!!!!!! But then again it IS MSNBC. |

You can be sure the west coast will get their share of that wave. My home is in Puna. I am away from home right now...would love to be back there! This and the thread about uranium in the water of the Big Island....seems like jealous people to me! I have lived on both coasts and Texas...and would still rather be in Puna on the Big Island! The politics there aren't what I would like...but...oh, man the weather and scenery is the best in the world...snow (if you want to go to it...in JUNE), deserts (with cacti and everything), sub-tropical rain forests)...year round beautiful. I have been to Yosemite and a bunch of national parks...Volcano National Park is still the prettiest I have seen...especially down by the Thurston Lava Tube! |

Obviously, in this case, the only place you need to worry about is Hawaii. Also apparently, if a tsunami is caused by a Canary Island landslide only the U.S. East Coast will be affected. The rest of the world does not exist (unless it affects America). |

I just love the post-Al-Gore shammy wipe fiasco shills who just slipped the "climate change is bad" line in an "i'm so subtle" way. When I see that - I stop reading, I stop listening, I stop watching because you know the person is a demented, evil, propaganda pushing shill. So they can't get us scared about climate change and in their desperation they've turned to linking it to 1000 foot tsunamis :) |
