First, though, put up a YouTube video of your 6 year-old singing this. Tell the reporter he or she can watch it. Then email the school board president, the school principal, and the music teacher -- with the link to the YouTube video. Watch them squirm! Go Go Go ![]() |

Why should the majority's beliefs be supressed as something shameful while those of a small minority are celebrated? |

Each side of the dreidel bears a letter of the Hebrew alphabet: נ (Nun), ג (Gimel), ה (Hei), ש (Shin), which together form the acronym for "נס גדול היה שם" (Nes Gadol Hayah Sham – "a great miracle happened there"). These letters also form a mnemonic for the rules of a gambling game played with a dreidel: Nun stands for the Yiddish word nisht ("nothing"), Hei stands for halb ("half"), Gimel for gants ("all"), and Shin for shtel ayn ("put in"). In Israel, the fourth side of most dreidels is inscribed with the letter פ (Pei), rendering the acronym, נס גדול היה פה, Nes Gadol Hayah Poh—"A great miracle happened here" referring to the miracle occurring in the land of Israel. Some stores in Haredi neighbourhoods sell the ש dreidels. [link to en.wikipedia.org] |

So tell me why then that it's ok that my 6 year old son came home from school today singing "dreidel dreidel dreidel" and when I asked where he'd heard that song he told me "we learned it in music class at school." Is that NOT a JEWISH HOLIDAY SONG??? Now I'm not being anti-semetic, but if you're gonna say that kids can't even SAY the word CHRISTMAS in schools because it's religious and they don't want to offend ANYONE, THEN DON'T TEACH THEM JEWISH SONGS!!!!!!!!!! My family is not Jewish and we happen to celebrate Christmas. SO DON'T TELL ME MY CHILD CAN'T SAY CHRISTMAS WHEN YOU'RE TEACHING HIM HANUKKAH SONGS!!! link to Dreidel, Dreidel, Dreidel Lyrics- [link to www.lyricsondemand.com] And my 6 year old came home with some Christmas paper coloring that was like a Menorah or something. Can't remember the name of it because I threw it out. It was like Mrynth or something. Never talk about Jesus though. |

Still....I would go have a chat with the music teacher to make sure it's not an agenda and that other traditional Christmas songs are being sung as well. |

Jesus was born during Sukkot, while 25 December was a pagan holiday. Christmas is all about getting each other expensive gifts and stuffing yourself with turkey, what has that got to do with Jesus? |
