the schools teach about nationalities as an important tool. they do not brainwash kids with it... atleast when i went there. they started having like a week to teach about different nationalities. flags, random facts, language sounds. all normal.

Was building a float for a Christmas parade and some young kid hitched a ride with the man who was also working on the float. Someone said we should make a sign that said Happy Holidays. The rest of us said we say Merry Christmas. The kid said oh no you cannot say Christmas, as it is a government parade. I said huh? He said you are not allowed to have a sign that is religious in any way when the government is involved. I said this is my float and we will be on my property. The kid says but it will be on GOVERNMENT roads. I felt like telling him to get off my property and hit the road soon. We all just told him he was wrong, but is it coming to this?

And they need to crack a BIBLE every now and then as well then.

This reminds me, some time in grade school, 3rd or 4th grade, we were taught this song and indeed were given clay with which to make our own dreidels. There was also something with a manora that we made out of construction paper.

It was certainly fun, but thinking of it now it's not quite fair. I'm 25 now, and back then they had already started teaching kids that it wasn't "Christmas break", but "winter break", so it was indeed an example of celebrating one religion while pushing another under the rug.

The dreidal thing doesn't necessarily piss me off as a non-Jew, just like a Christmas tree wouldn't necessarily piss me off as a non-Christian. But implied "Islam and Judaism good, Christianity bad" certainly does.

These were the same staff who were wearing "Clinton for president"-type buttons while teaching their class. I only remember that part because it pissed my mother off a bit. Many liberals need to look up the definition of the word "tolerance" they're spouting left and right. If you're claiming to champion that concept, you can't pull that shit. Celebrate all religions equally or say nothing about them all equally.

I went to school when christianity was still taught. Putting a bible infront of a child for an hour does nothing. The only thing i enjoyed was story time because the teacher used visual aids to simulate biblical stories. Like quilt characters on a quilted landscape. This was very effective and should still be taught in schools. No way i believe in God or Jesus but the important stories that came with it i still remember.
