Quoting: redrosie Oddly my daughter is doing a report on Vietnam .. and we have brought all kinds of religious and spiritual things to school.. I think I remember singing some Christian based songs in music .. like Silent Night .. Christianity is a branch on the tree of Judaism. |

So tell me why then that it's ok that my 6 year old son came home from school today singing "dreidel dreidel dreidel" and when I asked where he'd heard that song he told me "we learned it in music class at school." Is that NOT a JEWISH HOLIDAY SONG??? Now I'm not being anti-semetic, but if you're gonna say that kids can't even SAY the word CHRISTMAS in schools because it's religious and they don't want to offend ANYONE, THEN DON'T TEACH THEM JEWISH SONGS!!!!!!!!!! My family is not Jewish and we happen to celebrate Christmas. SO DON'T TELL ME MY CHILD CAN'T SAY CHRISTMAS WHEN YOU'RE TEACHING HIM HANUKKAH SONGS!!! link to Dreidel, Dreidel, Dreidel Lyrics- [link to www.lyricsondemand.com] And my 6 year old came home with some Christmas paper coloring that was like a Menorah or something. Can't remember the name of it because I threw it out. It was like Mrynth or something. Never talk about Jesus though. Atleast the Menorah is biblical, this can't be said of christmas. Jesus was born during Sukkot, while 25 December was a pagan holiday. Christmas is all about getting each other expensive gifts and stuffing yourself with turkey, what has that got to do with Jesus? In the past, if a child's birthday was unknown, a birthday date was randomly selected, and that became their birthday from then on. The same applies to Jesus, no one knows for sure his birthday, so Dec. 25 was appointed as the day we celebrate it. So get over it. |

I'm not Jewish & we are really looking forward to the start of Hanukkah Sunday evening. 2nd, Jesus probably kept Hanukkah as is kinda hinted at in John 10. If you are a follower of Jesus, then you would keep the holidays he did. (he was NOT born in the Winter, scripture shows he was born in the fall, during the Feast of Tabernacles) What is wrong with learning songs of a different culture? My kids had to be in school & put up with all the Xmas stuff going on around them, why can't your child learn about a different holiday? vaccinefreehealth blogspot com The risk far outweighs any benefit as the risk will vary from child to child. facebook.com/graphixyourway |

My PROBLEM is that they're teaching them Hanukkah songs and NOT ALLOWING THEM TO SAY CHRISTMAS! GET IT? DON"T ACT LIKE I'M BEING ANTI-SEMETIC. READ FIRST. Did you not read this part either?- I say bring freedom of religion back to the schools and tell the sissies that want to piss and moan about other religions being practiced around their children to fork up the dough and put their kids in private schools that only teach THEIR RELIGION. Otherwise SHUT THE HELL UP ABOUT IT. I WILL STAND BY MY CHILD EVEN IF HE GETS EXPELLED FOR SAYING MERRY CHRISTMAS!!! IT'S CALLED FREEDOM OF RELIGION YOU F'N COMMIES!!! I taught Public school music for 30 years and did that stupid dreidel tune for years... Sorry... At that time, we were trying to include all religious BS> All you get from fighting this is NO holidays. That will end up with no Christmas music taught/no parties. No Holloween/no parties, No thanksgiving, no nothing.... Valentines are on the way out too. Ok by me, but know that the pressure on music teachers is enormous. The public wants all of the above, only a few fight it and ruin it for all. Are you right?, yep. BUT, know that you will destroy all by inciting others to fight you. The Jewish population (most public schools have few) love the hate, envy, paranoid and egocentric power they hold in insisting on being recognized. They are worse than the Christian idiots who push the Jesus myths. The islamics simply have there kids refrain... I say, get rid of all those leftover holidays and focus on the February Black History Month. Note: They have no idea about our founding fathers, but will recite the Tubman line and verse slave railroad bit. The Public school curriculum is propaganda and is so engrained that noone can understand nor change it. Do fight the Driedle....while they teach your kids needless, foolish tripe--the system thrives off of those conflicts while they warehouse your kids in curricula that is useless. |

Kwanzaa is pushed on kids big time, and its a made up holiday that basically came to be in the late 60's.. I don't hear people complaining about that.. Or the rampant reverse racism going on in the schools. You people are so obsessed with hating/discriminating against Christians and Jews, you can't see straight. I'm sure you wouldn't have given 2 s**ts if your kid came home singing something in Arabic. That is where the real concern should be, the islamification of our country. That and the overwhelming push for hispanic takeover. Not over a cultural lesson. Like I said, most schools cover a variety of cultural holiday songs.. grow up. |
