Getting my wisdom teeth out in 6 hours

Had my wisdom teeth out in my teens, 13 or 14 I believe? In and out real quick, mouth was stuffed full of cotton and pulled it out soon as I got home to dig into a pint of ice cream. Parents and I went on a trip while I recuperated, almost got hooked on Vicodin, laying on the bed staring up at the ceiling. It really wasn't that bad, I was knocked out really quick following IV, think it was a dull constant pain between Vicodin pills.

had uppers and lowers done,no biggie.3 or 4 days after will be the worst.make sure you get good pain meds.ie.vicondin,bump it up by taking a tylenol with it.relax and enjoy the mellow.salt water swish hurts at first,but dose feel better once the shock wears off.realax youll be fine.

I got all 4 out with just novocaine. Didnt feel painful but it was uncomfortable and awkward. Dont sweat it too bad

I don't have experience with getting my teeth out, but yesterday the dentist had to fill my left lower wisdom tooth and this took her almost 20 minutes!!! Big gap in that tooth and afterwards the dentist said it was better to have the tooth removed

funny.. im going to the dentist in about 4 hours myself..

not to have a wisdom out but a separate dental issue.

I had a wisdom that grew in sideways and cracked the tooth next to it, which I lost along with the tooth next to it because of the pressure caused by the cracked tooth. good times!!

ask for a prescription for pain killer while u still can talk....

Got three out earlier this year, about 2 months back. Hated it. The lower two were surprisingly sore for a few weeks. Upper one wasn't too bad.

Cleaning out the wisdom teeth holes for months afterwards is annoying, BTW.

All in all, a terrible experience.

Don't worry, had mine extracted back in March, I just woke up in an altered state of consciousness, didn't know what the hell had just happened, and I almost had to remind myself of where I was, I also was euphoric for a brief period and was abnormally social... Long story short, it was over extremely quick and simple, just go in there like its already been done and walk out:)

p.s Chillout in bed or something afterwards and keep the gauze/cotton in your mouth to minimize the bleeding as much as possible, had to learn the hard way :-/

It should not be a anything to worry about.

I was wide wake and had mine popped right out with what looked like a nut pick....just got Novocaine shot.

Left the oral surgeons office and went right on to my brothers wedding rehearsal.

Had a great time then went back home done my normals then off to bed.

Never had any problem what so ever never even got sore.

I looked like a chipmunk for a week after getting all four of mine pulled. I took leave from the military to recover. I drank apple liquor to help ease the pain. Back in those days, they rarely gave out pain meds.

You'll be fine. Just don't drink with a straw or take aspirin.

How old are you Op? I think the older you are, the more 'serious' having your wisdom teeth pulled are. (And probably more painful afterwards.)

I had one wisdom tooth out in my 40s - and Very sore for 3 days afterwards. (Could even feel some pain with the anesthetic during the procedure!)

Had same - two words to know: DRY SOCKET - that is painful, what is it? - food gets into the tooth sockets and bacteria forms and PAIN! - how to prevent this 100%:

Rinse it every time you eat anything at all - Doc gave me a syringe tube with a water spout needle end - I fill it with water and blast all the food out of my tooth sockets. A Waterpick will do the same thing if you have one.

Absolutely do this!

My nephew got his out a few weeks ago. They did their best I guess but the doctor broke his jaw bone in two places, the bones just splintered inside the flesh. After they dug out the splinters they had a lot of sewing to do and then had to wire the jaw shut. They had to cauterize part of his gums so he can taste his own cooked flesh.

they even had to pull his front teeth so he could drink through a straw and expell the vomit when he was sick. Good thing I guess...he has been sick a lot.

He wrote me a note...I wish I was dead he wrote. Poor kid.

But I am sure you will be ok.

I had all four of my wisdom teeth taken out when I was 16, all four of them were inside growing sideways.

It hurt like hell afterwards and my face swelled up. I found out later it is best to have 2 taken out, not all 4 at once!

My advice is to start drinking now. Just kidding. In a few days you'll be fine. Just follow the doctors orders.
If you wake up with your cloths in disarray and you have a sore butt, then you can worry.

Make sure whoever is picking you up when you're finished brings a camera and records you saying stupid silly things while the drugs are wearing off.

I had mine out when I was 17. Mine were growing sideways, too. For some reason, I only had 3 instead of 4.

In the recovery room, I wasn't allowed to talk, but I wrote my parents a note saying that it was fun, and that I wanted to do it again. LOL! (Good meds! ;-) )

On the way home, my parents stopped to get the pain prescription filled, and while we were waiting, the numbness started wearing off. I wasn't too happy for a little while, but was fine once the pain pills kicked in. (Suggestion: See if you can get the prescription ahead of time, and take them as soon as you notice the feeling coming back!)

My cheeks puffed up like a chipmunk for a few days, which, naturally, my mother had to photograph (arrggh!), and there was a little bruising, but overall it wasn't bad. Mostly I slept a lot, watched TV, and ate soft foods. My little sister got a kick out of feeding me baby food peaches, over and over and over. (To this day, I don't care for peaches anymore! ha ha)

And yep, the doctor had me rinse my mouth often with a syringe. It didn't sting or anything. It felt kind of good, actually.

Within 7-10 days, everything was back to normal. I healed so well that my regular dentist couldn't tell just by looking that I'd even had my teeth removed. He had to ask me for confirmation. Apparently there was no sign where the teeth had been cut out. :-)

My real life advice: Don't drink alcohol! ouch!! & DO NOT smoke weed or cigarettes that will fuck your shit up

request Percocet for post op pain.

Vicodin won't cut it.

Good luck. The butcher that did mine did such a bad job that I stopped after 3. Couldn't take the pain. Do I have one left and I don't think I'll ever get it pulled out
