Quoting: Down Under Wonder 29257489 Going on a trip next year, and will do a month or so before hitting South America, where I will spend a month or more. I am thinking 2-3 days in each city should be enough for a quick look. Any of these worth more time? Cairo I am guessing would take maybe 5-7 with the Pyramids. Tokyo? Seoul? Hong Kong? Shanghai? New Delhi? Dubai? Istanbul? Cairo? Casablanca? And then onto the USA and South America. Shanghai, 2-3 days is enough, but honestly I don't understand why anyone coming to China would go to Shanghai, let alone only Shanghai. Hundreds of other far better, cheaper, less-hassled, and 'real' places/cities in China. Shanghai is like any big city. Same with HK. Both cool places, but not representative of China. One day in Hong Kong, as hotels are 5-10 times what they are in the mainland, and you'll have a far richer, better experience in China overall. |

Only really want a quick look in China/India so I can see if I want to go back. |

Guilin, Kunming, Harbin and Chongqing are a start: far more interesting than Shanghai (which is just a huge, flat megatropolis where you will be treated as a the stereotypical tourist and gouged where possible) and far more cheaper, plus much better natural scenery. |
