| Anonymous Coward User ID: 1302314 12/07/2012 08:07 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Today I got an email talking about how the Uganda parliament is passing a bill to "kill all of the gays". Quoting: Kydofusa The following is an exact copy and paste of the email Uganda's speaker of parliament has promised to pass a "Kill the Gays" bill in the next two weeks. Citibank and Barclays wield significant influence in Uganda, but have not spoken out against the bill. Sign Collin's Petition The speaker of the Ugandan parliament has promised she will pass the so-called "Kill the Gays" bill in the next two weeks -- she called it a "Christmas gift" for the Ugandan people. The bill would legalize the death penalty for LGBT people and people with HIV or AIDS. Uganda experts say that one way to stop this bill is to get pressure from banks that have significant resources invested in the country, such as Citibank and Barclays. Citibank and Barclays together have hundreds of millions of dollars invested in Uganda and wield significant influence in the country, just as banking lobbyists wield influence with Congress in the US. Citibank and Barclays speaking out against the "Kill the Gays" bill might be the best -- and only -- chance to stop it. Collin Burton is a Citibank customer who is also gay. Collin started a petition on Change.org asking Citibank and Barclays to speak out against the "Kill the Gays" bill. Click here to sign Collin's petition right now. Citibank and Barclays are both big supporters of LGBT rights for their own employees, yet they invest money with a government that is threatening to execute LGBT people. "I expect Citibank and Barclays to live up to the values of equality and fairness, not just list them on their websites," Collin says. If Citibank and Barclays speak out against the "Kill the Gays" bill, Ugandan legislators will see that they are risking the business relationships that keep their government afloat. Click here to sign Collin’s petition asking Citibank and Barclays to issue strong statements condemning Uganda’s "Kill the Gays" bill. The bill could come up for a vote any day, so swift action is essential. Thanks for being a change-maker, - Mark Anthony and the Change.org team I don't think they should be killed, however somethingist be done. The bill should ban all homosexuals from any rights normal people have. Any homos foind should be put in prison for life. WoW!! You are normal??????????????????????????? they are not normal GAY = GOD ABORTED YOU |

| Anonymous Coward User ID: 1190661 12/07/2012 08:16 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Advocating for the death of any group of people that have done no harm is astonishingly idiotic. In Africa, they are so superstitious that they believe killing an albino will give them good luck. They believe in so many things that would make your toes curl. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 19490298 They are not a well educated society and are barely able to feed themselves. Then the white evangelicals come along to teach their brand of hatred and myth to people already steeped and mired by superstition...... that they create new laws to kill people. Africa better wake up, cause white people are going to do them all in. And no, your charity money that goes to Africa is ate up by 95% in administration costs and executive pay. Wrong Gays are the reason that many millions of Africans are suffering from AIDS Kill gays and you eradicate AIDS OMG Are you really this ignorant? So are you the one dragging the average IQ of Australia down? We could cure all human diseases by killing all humans... You are a medical pioneer! I'm embarassed to live in the same country as you! Can you export yourself somewhere else please! |

Most of my gay friends are over 50. I don't know why people keep pushing the idea that gays die before the age of 40. One friend I had was in his mid 90's and was an Opera singer back in the 30's. He was a lot of fun. |

| Anonymous Coward User ID: 19490298 12/07/2012 08:53 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | How's this for anecdotal (you should take your own advice). MYTH # 4 LGBT people don't live nearly as long as heterosexuals. THE ARGUMENT Anti-gay organizations want to promote heterosexuality as the healthier "choice." Furthermore, the purportedly shorter life spans and poorer physical and mental health of gays and lesbians are often offered as reasons why they shouldn't be allowed to adopt or foster children. THE FACTS This falsehood can be traced directly to the discredited research of Paul Cameron and his Family Research Institute, specifically a 1994 paper he co-wrote entitled, "The Lifespan of Homosexuals." Using obituaries collected from gay newspapers, he and his two co-authors concluded that gay men died, on average, at 43, compared to an average life expectancy at the time of around 73 for all U.S. men. On the basis of the same obituaries, Cameron also claimed that gay men are 18 times more likely to die in car accidents than heterosexuals, 22 times more likely to die of heart attacks than whites, and 11 times more likely than blacks to die of the same cause. He also concluded that lesbians are 487 times more likely to die of murder, suicide, or accidents than straight women. Remarkably, these claims have become staples of the anti-gay right and have frequently made their way into far more mainstream venues. For example, William Bennett, education secretary under President Reagan, used Cameron's statistics in a 1997 interview he gave to ABC News' "This Week." However, like virtually all of his "research," Cameron's methodology is egregiously flawed — most obviously because the sample he selected (the data from the obits) was not remotely statistically representative of the LGBT population as a whole. Even Nicholas Eberstadt, a demographer at the conservative American Enterprise Institute, has called Cameron's methods "just ridiculous." [link to www.splcenter.org] |

But honestly I am fucking sick to death of hearing about them. Always whining about oppression, every movie or TV show has gays on it, it's taught in school.. It's in our faces everywhere, and they act like their sufferings are more noble and heroic than normal people. I'm not going to write anybody letters for gay rights, they already take up too much attention and create too much drama. There are more worthy causes that get less attention. If they weren't such attention grubbers maybe people would leave them alone and not bother them. |
