BREAKING: FSA Declares Damascus Int'l Airport a Military Target. Assad Stages Sarin in Damascus! Power Cut in Most of City!

BEIRUT, Lebanon — As fighting raged in the Damascus suburbs, rebels seeking the overthrow of President Bashar al-Assad were reported on Friday to have declared the capital’s main airport a “fair target,” warning travelers that they used it at their peril.

A spokesman for an insurgent military group attacking the airport south of Damascus, Nabil al-Amir, said rebels “who have been putting the airport under siege decided yesterday that the airport is a fair target.”

“The airport is now full of armored vehicles and soldiers,” Mr. Amir said. “Civilians who approach it now do so at their own risk.” News reports also suggested that government forces were seeking to bring in reinforcements for a counterattack designed to reverse rebel gains on the fringes of the city.

On a side note and perhaps some antecdotal evidence of a looming battle for Damascus is that a number of MSM journalists have recently arrived in or around Damascus. Jeremy Bowen and Cara Swift from the BBC and Tim Marshall from Sky News are in Damascus from what I gather.

0915 GMT: Activists claim that the Syrian army has fired rockets into and reinforced its positions around the Damascus suburbs of Moadamiyeh and Darayya with tanks and troops.

The two suburbs are among a ring of districts which, if held by insurgents, would establish an arc of control from the northeast to southwest of the capital, cornering Damascus against the Qasioun mountain range.

"Fifteen tanks arrived at the edge of Moadamiah this morning after and a night of very heavy artillery shelling and rocket fire into the suburbs," said an activist. "They are trying to storm the area."

The Local Coordination Committees, an opposition group active inside Syria, reported that on Thursday the military “threw toxic gases” in Daraya, southwest of Damascus, and attacked the towns of Mohasan and Buomar with phosphorus bombs.

A senior opposition member told told A-Sharq Al-Awsat, a Saudi-owned daily with close ties to the Syrian opposition, that Assad cut internet and mobile communications to Syria last week in order to prepare and transport chemical weapons for use in Damascus, expecting a crucial battle with the Free Syrian Army in the capital.

NATO BEGAN putting troops and missiles along the Syrian border Thursday in response to reports that embattled President Bashar Assad is poised to use chemical weapons.

At least 400 NATO soldiers from the U.S. and the Netherlands were beefing up Turkey’s border with Syria and readying Patriot missiles.

Yep, it's a great achievement, i've told you before though that Russia had successfully tested small EMP mortars without the need for a nuke in the Chechnya war during the early 2000's. It's not that of a big breakthrough, probably just an official announcement of the weapon, the interesting part of the Boeing is that it's not even explosive. Attack on Iran is far away imo.
