I believe it is different for everyone. For me, looking into someone's eyes and connecting on that unseen level is the key. You can tell a lot by how you connect with someone that very first time you look into their eyes.

Beyond that initial physical encounter and connection, friendship based on honesty and trust is the foundation of love. with those, love can grow and become everlasting.

Its curious that of all the times in my life that I've been truly 'in love' (4 times), it was only those relationships where, upon the first encounter, our eyes 'locked' for what always seemed like an eternity and then the beginning of the relationship always seemed like we had already known each other. Perhaps we had, its a very unique experience to meet someone for the first time but to feel as though you've known them for years and years.

that's how I know its a 'go' if I meet someone. Its all in the eyes. I once had a co-worker who I could not look at. He had a crush on me and I knew if I connected with him and stared into his eyes, I'd be in trouble (I'm married). I actually left that position because the sexual tension was too intense. Had I been 10 years younger and single who knows...
