At least that’s what investors seem to be signaling, according to Bloomberg News. This from an illuminating dispatch by Tim Catts: Smith & Wesson Holding Corp. (SWHC) climbed the most in two months to lead a rally among firearms manufacturers as traders speculated that President Barack Obama’s reelection will spur gun sales. Investors are wagering that more Americans will buy guns after the win by Obama, who said last month he would consider reintroducing a ban on civilian purchases of military-style assault weapons. I went to Lucky's Pawn in Robertsdale, Goldmine Pawn in Daphne and Encore Outdoors--all report a spike in gun sales--as small as 25% to as much as 300%. “People are worried about future restrictions not only on AR platforms but guns and ammo availability, if you look at the last election there was a shortage of ammo, gun supplies were hard to get,” says Tracey Lassere the owner of Encore Outdoors. Customers are stocking up on either the guns they've been thinking about buying or the bullets they worry they won't be able to buy. TechRaider (OP) User ID: 8668963 United States 12/07/2012 10:31 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Buy Gun Stocks When a Democrat is in Office The theory is that when Democrats hold the power, gun owners are scared for their Second Amendment Rights, and go out and buy more firearms, worried that Big Brother is about to take them all away. Each year, since a Democrat was elected president, overall, firearms sales have increased across the board. And that is in spite of a bad economy, where normally it would stand to reason that an expensive, (some would say) non-commodity, product's sales would drop off. Again, this proves the theory that firearms sell well because a Democrat is in office. [link to beta.fool.com] Texas has yet to learn submission to any oppression, come from what source it may. TechRaider (OP) User ID: 8668963 United States 12/07/2012 10:55 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Paul Dear fellow American, Gun-grabbers around the globe believe they have it made. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton recently announced the Obama Administration will be working hand-in-glove with the UN to pass a new “Small Arms Treaty.” Disguised as an “International Arms Control Treaty” to fight against “terrorism,” “insurgency” and “international crime syndicates,” the UN’s Small Arms Treaty is in fact a massive, GLOBAL gun control scheme. TechRaider (OP) User ID: 8668963 United States 12/07/2012 11:05 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Rand Paul favorably quoted in FoxSports commentary on Gun Control From Engel's article on FoxSports: "...So scaring Americans and then using that fear to explain why this egregious assault on their rights is for their own good is genius. This is exactly why the right protecting against unreasonable searches and seizures of Americans is no longer absolute, thanks to the Patriot Act, and a right to a speedy and public trial by jury was only days ago finally reaffirmed in the Senate, with Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) so eloquently arguing, “If we relinquish our rights because of fear, what is it exactly, then, we are fighting for?” “We have nothing to fear that should cause us to relinquish our rights as free men and women,” Paul said. “I urge my colleagues to reject fear, to reject the siren call for ever more powerful government.” This is not simply about guns. This is about rights. It is a slippery slope from doing something in the interest of public safety to giving up what we hold dear. The slope is greased with fear, with a self-righteous belief that we know better than the framers of the Constitution. And it is all based on informal fallacy. I bought it for the two reasons cited in the article but the main reason I bought it was because of the signing of the NDAA, which allows for American citizens to be indefinitely detained without judge, jury or trial. Let's also not forget that government has been purchasing large quantities of ammo lately. If "they" are preparing then we need to prepare as well. Will be buying more guns when I get the funds. I never planned on owning a gun but then again I also never planned on living in a country like Soviet Russia or Germany during the 1930s and 40s. |
